Dhinam Oru Padhigam ~ Shiva MaNimaalai

தினம் ஒரு பதிகம் ~ சிவ மணிமாலை 🙌😌✍️

ARiyAdhaMei ARindhuTheLidhal ~ அறியாதமெய் அறிந்துதெளிதல்

~ a hymn on the limited knowledge acquired through senses and thought and the realisation of the unlimited nature of omnipresent creator's presence in all creation.🙏😌🙌
😇

Hymn explanation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both the eyes are but a wound
When they don't (can't) see the magnificent form of the one who wasn't born from a womb
Both the eyes are but a wound
When one knows (experiences) the formless one in the form of light
Both the wounds will glow as (transform into) eyes.
😇
Both the ears are just small holes
When they don't (can't) hear the name of the one who is in the form of sound (NhAdhabrahmam)
Both the ears are just small holes
When one realises that the sound (sacred AUM) and the Lord (ShivA) are one and the same, through the sound (chant / mantrA)
The small holes become (transform into) wonderful ears
😇
Tongue is just a long, thick muscle
When it secretes saliva with desire (on seeing / thinking about food) and devours (various kinds of food)
Tongue is just a long, thick muscle
When they chant the stuthi (organised list of names, like AshtOthram or SahasranhAmam) of the Lord of AlavAi (SundarEswarA of Madurai)
The thick muscle becomes (transforms into) a singing tongue
😇
Nose is a path to know scent (various kinds of smell)
While being used to smel flowers (aromatic / fragrant) and waste (foul smelling) matter
Nose is a path to know scent (various kinds of smell)
In order to let go of the ego, when it's focused on the prANA (breath - in and out)
The path for transformation (from the materialistic to spiritual being) is at the end of the nose (Understood to have been told by Lord KrishNA to ArjunA at the battlefield, this is not to be taken literally - the essence of the saying is the answer lies in the middle of eyebrows, i.e. Bindhu or AgnA chakrA)
😇
Both the legs are just long sticks (stumps)
When they go along all the ways that the eye sees (the way of the mind & five senses), spending the time (limited lifetime)
Both the legs are just long sticks (stumps)
When they search for the (sacred) feet of the Lord who kicked YamA (Lord of death)
Both the stumps (sticks) become (transform into) walking legs (of a seeker)
😇
Both the arms are mere tools of action
While performing work, remaining stuck in the flawed realm of survival
Both the arms are mere tools of action
When one surrenders and prays / worships (the divine) to realise the ultimate Truth
The arms (bowing / performing NhamaskAram) transcend being mere tools of action
😇
Mind is a horse on fast trot that keeps roaming
When going in all directions, aimlessly (without purpose)
Mind is a horse on fast trot that keeps roaming
By controlling the eye, ear, arm, tongue, leg and nose (sensory organs)
The mind slows down (becomes still) and focuses (on the pursuit of Truth / self-realisation)
😇
Whatever is known by the "I" (ego / individual personality) is a mere drop
All the knowledge acquired by seeing and hearing (accumulated / assimilated) and the all the wealth and fame won (by competing)
Whatever is known by the "I" (ego / individual personality) is a mere drop
At the moment of knowing (experiencing through contemplation / meditation) that the ego / personality is nothing but a role in the dramA (of survival / mAyA)
One realises that the Self isn't what is known from outside (can't be realised externally)
😇
Dissecting (facts / information) to know anything is limited (incomplete) intellect
By thinking this (self) and that (other beings) are individual beings (life forms)
Dissecting (facts / information) to know anything is limited (incomplete) intellect
The creator (divine / God) resides in all beings (each and every creation)
Is the clarity (wisdom) that's only with those who've woken up (Enlightened beings & Realised Masters)
😇
The hidden Truth (that can't be perceived by senses of perception) isn't in the (physical) forms
Until one gets rid of the karmA (accumulated actions of the past and present) and gains liberation from the repetitive births (lifetimes)
The hidden Truth (that can't be perceived by senses of perception) isn't in the (physical) forms
By forgetting oneself (shedding the individual identity / ego) and crying (out of ignorance), when one surrenders (to the Lord)
The unmanifest Lord will manifest (reveal - in the form of eternal light) and shower his Grace inside them (within the being / oneself).
Dhinam Oru Padhigam ~ GnAna MaNimAlai
தினம் ஒரு பதிகம் ~ ஞான மணிமாலை 🙌😌✍️
GuruvaruLey ThiruvaruL ~ குருவருளே திருவருள்
~ a hymn on the significance of Guru (spiritual Master) for seekers in pursuit of self-realisation, expounding how the realised Master (enlightened being / Guru) is none other than the divine itself, in human form. 🙏😌🙌
😇
Hymn explanation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Guru's feet are divine feet, when (you) worship them the bondage of repeated birth will get released
😌
Guru's words are divine words, which will
dissolve the petty mind's madness and cleanse (clear) the intellect (ignorance of acquired knowledge)
😌
Guru's sound (chant) is sacred chant (mantrA), which will become a vibration
within oneself as JapA (mantrA chant), when done properly, daily
😌
Guru's path is the light that will guide / protect, until the seeker's (spiritual) pursuit continues on the grand path of Truth
😌
Guru's place (ashram / residence) is the place of Grace, where Life energy (in all forms of creation) can be experienced, like in a sacred space
😌
Guru's form is divine form, the form of the one who resides in the GarbhaGrihA (of temples), like the reflection of moon in a pond
😌
Guru's face is divine face, which is like the blossoming flower in the centre of one's (spiritual) heart
😌
Guru's praise is divine praise (sthuti / slOkA / hymn), akin to the floral offering in pUjA (while chanting slOkAs), performed with humility, day after day
😌
Guru's heart is the divine heart, which will shower its Grace to cleanse the karmA (accumulated through actions of the past & present) and let one's inner nature (divinity) shine
😌
Guru's actions are divine actions, like the master key to (open oneself) witness (experience) the divinity that resides within all beings (not just human)
😌
Guru's feet are Haran's feet, performing the dance (ThANdavA), wearing the crescent moon (on his matted hair), the feet of the Lord (ShivA) who comes seated on the sacred bull (Nandhi)
😌
Guru's Grace is Divine Grace, which eradicate the fear of mind's darkness (ignorance), like the rays (of sun) that dissolve / melt the dew drops away.
