The upshot of this article is that any government fiddling with Intel's random generators are generally not a problem for encryption in Linux. Without knowing anything about any possible "backdoors" placed in the Intel chip's random generator, the author of the Linux random generator chose not to rely solely on what the chip provides because he couldn't look inside and see how it works.  Whether he was concerned about government meddling or simple incompetence, either way the general rule of not relying on things that you can't open up and inspect seems to serve pretty well.

Another interesting Google Cultural Institute "exhibit."
Exhibition spotlight: "Jan Karski. Humanity’s Hero."
A member of the Polish World War II resistance movement, Jan Karski raised the alarm about the existance of the Holocaust.
The exhibition includes a first-hand video testimony of Jan Karski himself. It was curated by Dorota Szkodzińska for the Polish History Museum. Discover it here: http://goo.gl/Q6CD1
