I'm Impressed - Review of The Artist
I have to admit that when I first heard about The Artist (2011) I thought it sounded very pretentious. It is, after all, a French produced, black and white, silent movie with a 4:3 aspect ratio, made in 2011. My perception of the movie was however quickly changed and I really got my hopes up while still being somewhat skeptical concerning if the movie could live up to the buzz. As it turned out, it could.

Already from the beginning of The Artist I got caught by its charm. It put a smile on my face and I began to expect that it would be a delightful and entertaining movie without anything really serious or emotional. Once again, I was wrong. Besides The Artist starting out very light and playful, it later on also get serious and emotional - both in immensely impressive ways. I had absoutely not expected a movie like this to bring a tear to my eye, but it actually managed to do so more than once.

The Artist is a special kind of movie - but if you're able to give it a chance you might just end up loving it. I did.
