My youngest daughter (16 yo) drew this for me for Father's Day. The girl has tons of talent and no interest at all in pursuing an art career. She's all about the science and medicine.

OWB in action!
Thanks for letting my run a game of WWII: Operation Whitebox tonight +JPierson71, +Daryl Cartier, and +Jason Connerley. This is something I'll need to run some more to get more familiar with the nuances of everything. All in all I think it went pretty smoothly but as usual I need to work on describing the scenes better.

The small 3 man crew of Special Operators were able to destroy the two bridges at Ponteville playing a smaller but important role in operation Crossfire which covered the flank of the larger operation at the port city of St. Croix la Mer.

After taking out the radio operator with one shot, Pedro runs into the lobby where he lobs a grenade into another room taking out 7 German soldiers as they run out to join the fight. Then Napoleon runs up the stairs to toss a grenade at the SS officers coming out of their rooms only to hit the banister railing and drop into the lobby where Pedro is recovering from applying first aid to himself. Pedro manages to survive the grenade explosion but at a cost. He can no longer hear anything as he has a loud ringing in his ears. Corey managed to take out the wounded German in charge, Major Klaus Greenig, who ran back to man the MG-34, but only after taking a volley from the Major. From there it was fairly easy taking out the troops on the bridge with the MG-34.

It's not WWII per se, but for those of you who have played/play Twilight 2000, most of the adventures are an easy port. This is a nice writeup of an encounter.

A blend of two WWII RPGs by +Mighty Eroc - looking forward to the AP report!
My first Session of "The Front" was a resounding success. I had four players for the first 3/4 and was joined by a 5th for the last 1/4 of evening play.

Big thanks to +Mark Hunt for creating The Front, and +Pete Spahn for Operation White Box: Allied Missions.

I knew I wanted to an introductory style opener for this game to get the game play down for the players and to allow them to experience using different weapons and weapon effects; short/long bursts etc.

I used the "Trial by Fire" option for beginning play and the "Storming the Beach" mission from OWB (Operation White Box). Essentially this was run just like a Zero Level Funnel (for those of you familiar with the concept from Dungeon Crawl Classics). Each player was given a sheet with four sets of blank stats. You were allowed to assign a 15 to any one ability, then all others were 10's. Then you were allowed to assign weapons, 1 man had a Thompson and 4 grenades, 1 man could have a BAR or Bazooka and 2 grenades, the last 2 men get a choice of M1 Garand or M1 Carbine and 4 grenades.

Hit points were based off Constitution, Ranks was ignored at this stage and NO Classes were chosen yet.

I did a bit of minor conversion for the enemies as OWB is set up based on Original D&D. But this was very simple with the enemy creation guide in the Front.

I also used a Memoire 44 boardgame that the shop had as a Demo in its play library as a visual and round keeping reference. The game has a nice beachhead board-side that was very handy.

The Front & OWB mission worked very well together, and the Trial by Fire mission gave me lots great things to throw at the players. Random incoming enemy fire types, beach obstacles etc.

It was exciting, fun, and the players said they really felt the pressure of getting out of the landing craft and across the beach as fast as possible to engage the enemy quickly as they were just mercilessly hammered by the enemy fire!

I will post a Play Report shortly, with all the action.

Been so busy this week I almost missed this historic day... glad I decided to stop by G+ before I went to bed. God bless the military, past, present, and future, and God bless their families as well.
