Tasteless, overpriced food. An extremely annoying, intrusive waiter who insisted on repeating all the specials aloud even when they were there on the menu for us to read. My husband had to ask him to leave us alone for a few minutes. The food was tasteless, not even properly seasoned. The bill for three adults and one child came to 280 dollars, without starters for two of the party and without coffee or dessert. Absolutely ridiculous. The waiter tried to pester us into ordering dessert and coffee, but we refused. He was incredibly irritating. His last (thank goodness!) words to us were "See you again!" No. Way.

Those that gave three stars and below have no idea what they're talking about. Assaggi is a legend in this area. A legend for a reason. Known to the locals and to all of the many 'rich and power' in this prosperous area. The food is amazing and the service...well, they treat you like family. Best Italian I've ever had with an atmosphere you'll always fondly remember.

Average food quality, way overpriced. Not much flavor, need salt and pepper on the table. My wife ordered from the list of specials, and they brought her the wrong dish. Then argued with her about why she didn't want the dish they brought instead if the one she ordered. My son got penne with meat sauce, and while it was fine, it just didn't have enough flavor to really be called good. The ambiance was lacking. Lots of hard surfaces, and very noisy. The wine was good, though.

We had a Pre-theater dinner. Arrived at 5pm and saw half of their staff eating at the bar and another half watching TV. They looked at us as we were aliens but seconds later remembered to "great us with the smile". Food was ranging from OK to really bad, service was inattentive, ignorant and sometimes just rude, and value even with Prix fix prices was not worth of spending for THIS quality of the meal. Bad experience all around. No return.

My husband and I checked this place out on New Years Eve. The girl at the front said that they'd been open about two weeks, so I understand it's a new restaurant. The place had some definite pluses - the hostess and waitstaff were incredibly nice, friendly and welcoming - exactly what you'd expect from an italian restaurant. the bread was delicious and the olive oil was good quality. our mussels appetizer was really, really tasty, and perfectly sized. they had wine by the quarter bottle and half bottle, which i really liked. their cheapest wine was $9 a glass which i thought was a little high, and it would have been nice if they had a house wine. but they did have good wines. now the negatives are, well, pretty much everything else. my husband and i both got veal dishes - me their veal saltimbocca and my husband the veal and artichoke risotto special. i think they pretty much used a veal loin as the cut for all their specials. this is i think the fatal flaw for both of our dinners - it's such a fatty cut, and both of our meals had more fat than meat. most restaurants I go to use a thin fillet, and I definitely prefer that. My veal was also a little undercooked, but not horribly so. The rest of my meal was pretty good - the proscuitto was nicely crisped, the sauce was delicious. I think it could have been a great dish except for the really gross and fatty meat cut. I definitely think they should switch to a thinly pounded fillet (scalloppini). It's certainly what I was expecting, and really a lot more appetizing. my husband had the artichoke and veal risotto. It was a really unappetizing plate of brownness that he described as "overall, a disappointment". He had the same problem with his cut of veal that I did. It was more fat than meat, and really just unappetizing. The color was also just unenjoyable to look at. If they had kept some of the artichokes green, added some sage or made the risotto less runny and served the veal on the side instead of just sort of plopped on top of the risotto, I think it would have been better. He said that his was a little heavy on the salt, too. The bite I had was salty but it wasn't inedible. I will say I thought the prices here were pretty good. For my money, I'd still go to Alpine or Cafe Oggi for a good Italian dinner, but I would go back to this place for wine and appetizers at the (unfortunately small) bar. We thought our wine was very good (a Montepulciano), and our appetizer was just delicious. We didn't try dessert because we had kind of lost our appetite after picking through the gristle in our dinner. I cannot say enough how much better a scalloppini cut would have been. Hopefully this place will work out some of it's kinks though, cause it's appetizer and bread shows the kitchen knows how to do somethings well. They could also use more comfortable chairs, but that's certainly forgivable.
