Just stopped in for the 3rd time... Happened to be my 3rd time of not being helped in any way as well. They have a decent selection in general, just not much in terms of customer service. Prices didn't seem competitive either... Saw an SR40 marked for $529.. I picked one up less than a week ago for $540 out the door. A Pelican case that is $55 on Amazon is priced at $129!? Haha... I'll continue to do business with MilSpec Armory.

Picking up a sweet little hand gun from this shop in Mountain View. The staff here is always on point. I recommend them.

I purchased a rifle from Bay Area Gun Vault yesterday June 7th, 2012. This is my first go at an AR and the man who i believe to be either the owner or manager of the store whose name is Gary was the most patient and helpful person I could have had the pleasure to deal with. He explained in great detail the differences between the rifles he had and was very willing to go more in depth if I had a question or didn't fully understand. Going beyond showing me the weapons and telling me the price and taking time to make sure i was well educated is what gives them an excellent rating in my book. I could have got a cheaper price online but i'm happy to support local business for the hundred or so bucks they will make. I'd also like to add that people who complain about the attitude or attentions of the people in the Gun Vault probably went in with a bad attitude to begin with or were walking around with their head down like they didn't want to be talk to. Just like anything else in life be good to the people you're interacting with and they will be good to you.

High prices, staff always knows better, even if you have more experience. Selection isn't great, other seller in Militias has better selection and lets you buy what you want, not what they want to sell you. I found ammo on a shelve and attempted to buy it, was told price was wrong and they would not honor the marked price. Wanted 3X more. I refused and said I wanted to buy what I found on the shelves as marked, they refused. I won't go back. In my backyard, would rather pay more to someone else if needed before buying here. Other places 20 mins away are better options.

Went to look around. After being ignored for a while, longer than it should have been as the staff was in a heated discussion among themselves about the merits of two black rifle brands, a short stocky guy attempted to help me. Great, finally, there was fairly poor attitiude all the way around but these guys were not on par with the jerks at Tabors up the road in San Bruno. To gauge honesty I did not let on my 35 yrs overall arms experience that included 20 yrs mil/LEO, 10 years professional gunsmithing, and 20 years competitive shooting. As a point of reference I showed interest in a M4. They tried to up sell me like crazy. The retail prices were competitive but by no means the best that could be found. Since I buy wholesale I was really just looking around for fun but wanted to see what kind of place this is. I asked a couple of questions of which I knew the answers to and realized they did not have a good handle on the topic. On the way out (I was not buying on this trip), I was directed to look at their "vintage" guns as a last chance to well me something. "We got a good selection of WW2 guns" he said. Yeah, now we are talking. I have an extensive collection of standard issue, M1C, and M1D Garands (equivalant CMP Rack to Collector grades) and have rebuilt maybe 25 of them for clients. I know Garands, The junk they tried to palm off was clearly rack grade (no I did not gauge them) but the pitting and wear marks told the tale - BUTwith GREAT stories attached. How he knew this particular weapon was used in the WW2 PTO is still a mystery - I should have asked. Conclusion - good parking, fair to just about retail pricing, inexperienced help. If you are a newbie and want to bust your gun cherry - you will likely be wowed, if you know much you will not be overlly impressed. Maybe I should have bought that Garand that went ashore at Iwo Jima . . . it was only marked up 300% above it's actual value BUT it had a great story, what a steal!

Paid full retail for a S&W 827 PC but Reed's was charging OVER retail on the same gun; and a different shop down the road in Sunnyvale quoted me more than $100 over retail on the 4" 827 and I'd have to order it! I went here on a BUSY Saturday and I didn't have to wait too long to be helped. The staff is knowledgeable and more than helpful.
