I really, really wanted this to work. Based on all of the negative feedback, I decided to give them a call to see if they had the Fuji x100s in stock. They stated they did. I then asked about shipping to Canada. The response was $99. I stated that the website offered three different options starting at $49. His only reply was that 'shipping to Canada is $99'. Well even with shipping, it's still a good deal so I agree to purchase it. The next thing I get asked is which version do I want - The English version or the Chinese version? "Huh?" Apparently there are different versions of the OS. Immediately at that point I can see where this is going. Thanks but no thanks. Not worth the energy or time.

This store advertises an extremely low sale price on its web site for a new Canon 70D and under the "what's included" section, they list out the usual stuff like battery pack, charger, etc and, in fact, show a pic of the Canon battery and charger, etc. After placing the order I received a call to confirm shipping and at the end of that call found out that if I wanted the Canon battery and manufacturer warranty, the price would go from the $949 sale price to $1099 which put them in the range of everybody else. I hate pricing games like that so I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. I was then transferred to someone else who apologized and offered a slightly lower price for the battery and warranty but at that point I was no longer interested. I was worried about getting a refund and wrote a review mentioning that - giving them a one-star "hated it" rating. But to be fair they promptly refunded the entire purchase price, so I'm adding a star which accurately reflects "disliked it." I can't comment on the quality of the merch since I cancelled and purchased elsewhere.

BUYER BEWARE!! I visited 42nd Street Photo today looking to buy a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II L-Series lens, credit card in hand. Once put in front of me, I asked to borrow a camera body with which to test the lens. The guy I was dealing with (who claimed to be the owner) seemed very hesitant before I had paid, but eventually agreed. I was handed a 7D body with the lens attached and immediately noticed the images it produced were very soft across multiple shots at f/8 to f/11. I also happen to own a 7D and have hired this particular lens many times in the past, and have always found the 70-200mm to be a tack-sharp lens. Something was definitely not right with this one. My concern had barely left my lips before the guy abruptly demanded that I hand the lens back and tried to tell me that all Canon L-Series lenses are soft by design!! Are you kidding me?! He wouldn’t hear a word of it though, and embarked on a tirade of nonsense before demanding I leave the store immediately, but not before inviting me to come behind the counter to engage in a fight!! I’m a 30-something-year-old professional wearing a suit and tie, and this clown is wanting to throw down because I mentioned the lens I was interested in purchasing seems to be focusing soft. It was like something out of a bad movie. Looking round at the other employees/owners, who were all staring intently at him, I got the impression this might be a common occurrence. Anger management issues aside, Customer Service 101 my good man: if someone enters your store looking to put down $2,500 and probably more in the future, you might want to check your attitude. Instead I took my business elsewhere. There is something very dodgy about this store. I suspect some of the gear they’re selling (including this particular lens) is not new but in fact refurbished, despite my new friend’s enraged comments to the contrary.

I am a professional photographer for 15 yrs and am a first time customer with 42nd Photo. I usually purchase my gear from vendors like B&H and Adorama. I thought i'd change up and try someone new. I'm glad I did! 42nd Photo has a wide variety of high quality products. They were able to give the positive customer service and support that professionals require. I received my products in a timely manner and at an affordable and competitive price. 42nd Photo will now be among my vendors when I'm searching for new gear!

I received an email today regarding all these reviews. It was a manager. He asked for my number and called me very shortly after. This was around 9pm my time. Meaning it was about 10pm where he was. Thats what you call customer service. He was very concerned that I was not happy and made everything right. Even gave me personal email if I ever had any more questions. I would now totally recommend ordering items from 42nd photo. They highly value their customers and want to make sure you are happy!
