Weekly health and nutrition:
"Optimum nutrition is not just about what you eat- what you don't eat is equally important"

This weeks post is about those nasty 'vitamin thieves' which could deprive us of those essential vitamins and minerals we all need to stay healthy. Did you know there are over 3,500 different man made chemicals in our foods today? These anti- nutrients are associated with 3/4 cancer cases. Pesticides also have a similar effect however they are known to also be mutagenic and is toxic to the brain. An average person in the UK will unawarely consume 420g of pesticide from their food a year. Organophosphate pesticides are known to be linked with birth defects, and yes, you guessed it, cancer! These man-made chemicals can be found in food, cigarettes and from car exhausts. They won't do any good for your skin, either and will increase your free radical count quite dramatically; so here are some tips to decrease your intake of anti- nutrients and minimise their effects:
- consume at least 1gram of vitamin C a day. Vitamin C detoxifies over 50 undesirable substances.
- ensure you have a balanced nutritional intake. The 'Advanced Nutrition Programme' is purchasable in salon to help your skin and body stay healthy.
- minimise your intake of processed food. Eat as freshly as possible by minimising consumption of simple carbohydrates such as: white bread, chocolate, and most ready meals.
- wash your fruit and veg thoroughly before consumption. You don't want to be putting anymore of those nasty chemicals into your body.

We hope we have provided some useful tips to help your body remain healthy throughout the festivities!
