There used to be a US political party called "The Know-Nothings". In the modern GOP we have the "Learn Nothings". They should change their mascot from the Elephant to Wile E. Coyote.

So, since G+ introduced communities, I'm getting a really irritating amount of email from the site.  I only joined a few communities -- mostly ones that included people I already interacted with -- but apparently I get an email notification for every post in each community I belong to -- even though I went through and turned off every notification setting I could find on G+. The amount of unwanted email is beginning to make my Gmail account too frustrating to use, and it is definitely discouraging me from joining any more communities.  Anyone have any suggestions?

As someone who has created communities, I don't think it's something the creator selects (at least I wasn't prompted to do so). It seems to me that when G+ introduced communities the default was "on." I had to go through and switch any communities I joined to "off." Since then it has changed and the default is 'off."

This is one of the best practical articles on writing that I've read in a long time.  I'm putting this metrics triangle on the wall above my desk.  Every writer interested in increasing productivity should read and think about this article.

The Tasmanian Devil has been under treat due to an agressive facial tumours that are spread between devils during their breeding season. The new program on Maria Island will introduce healthy devils into a disease free environment, hopefully giving them a better shot at survival.

Lucky guess?

Silver, 34, a University of Chicago graduate and the computer expert who gave Obama a 90 percent chance of winning re-election, predicted on his blog, FiveThirtyEight (for the number of votes in the Electoral College), that the president would get 51 percent of the popular vote as he predicted each of the 50 states, including all nine battlegrounds.
