Much remains to be done to ensure each and every Texan can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of gender identity or expression.
In addition to the lives lost in Orlando, at least 20 Texans have been attacked in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, anti-LGBT rhetoric is fueling an atmosphere of extreme hate, and Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Attorney General Ken Paxton are targeting the most vulnerable population in our state – transgender children. Much...

If Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton wanted to solve a REAL bathroom problem, they would focus on the thousands of Texans who live without running water or sewer connections.
Low-income residents bought cheap land outside of cities decades ago. But the promised infrastructure never came.

This week Equality Texas is proud to release a brand new video featuring the story of Ann, Jim, and Ben Elder, a family living in Friendswood, Texas. In the video, Ann and Jim, who have been married for 19 years, talk about raising their son Ben, who is transgender – meaning he was born a girl but always knew himself to be a boy.
Happy Mother’s Day to Ann – and to all mothers in Texas and across the country. Watch, love and share their story.

"These proposed gender-police laws are a solution in search of a problem, and actually it's pandering and it's dangerous," said Chuck Smith, CEO of Equality Texas. "Texans know which restroom to use, and they don't need any help from the Legislature." We need your help to ensure facts and fairness prevail. Please support Equality Texas.
The battle over who exactly can use which bathroom may be coming to Texas.

Statement by Steven M. Rudner, Chairman of the Board, Equality Texas in response to Lt. Governor and the Ft. Worth ISD.
Statement by Steven M. Rudner, Chairman of the Board, Equality Texas in response to Lt. Governor and the Ft. Worth ISD. The Lt. Governor loves to stir up hatred for political purposes, but his hatred comes at a high cost. For transgender students who are bullied every day, his hatred is a mean-spirited attack on...

BREAKING: Rockwall "Potty Police" ordinance fails!
Rockwall residents told their city council tonight that the Rockwall they love is not a city that would support discrimination.
They made it clear that there is no factual basis or need for a “potty police” ordinance that would open the city up to lawsuits and damage its reputation.
Residents demanded the council produce data that would demonstrate the existence of a problem to be solved. And in the absence of such evidence, they voted “no” on a policy that was not fully inclusive or fair-minded.
Discrimination has no place, anywhere in Texas. Small town Texas values were on fine display and Rockwall shows what Texas is really all about. Local communities.

"Texans know which restroom to use; they don't need any help from the Texas Legislature. Transgender Texans have been using restrooms matching their gender identity for years. Equality Texas knows that any policies proposed as 'gender policing' are just new laws searching for a problem." - Equality Texas Board Chair Steve Rudner
If a state lawmaker decides to propose a so-called "bathroom bill," Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he would support it.

Because Target actually cares about the public safety of its customers & employees.
Because the safest bathroom/fitting room for a transgender woman is the women's room.
Because the "protect our wives & kids from dress-up predators" is a bullshit lie.
