Audio guide (French, English, German, Chinese, ...) included in ticket tells interesting stories about the history of the amphitheatre and life in the Roman time in general. Plus you're able to climb around the colosseum, all the way to the top

Wonderfully preserved Roman amphitheatre. Still has internal seating structure and is still used for events today. Travel to the city by train or bus if you can as parking nearby the arena is not good. (Underground carpark Arene is appalling, very tight and congested inside and badly signed)

First intact Roman amphitheatre i have seen. Well restored and maintained. Audio guide provided with entry ticket. Does get really really hot in Summer so prepare and dress accordingly.

Beautiful Roman arena in the center of Nîmes. Maybe the nicest one ww. A lot of events, shows and concerts are organized there.

Audio guide is really suggested (Chinese included). It's amazing to listen to the stories of Rome empire when stepping in the arena.

Off the beaten tourist path and way better than the Colosseum. No line, audio guide was very informative and well organized site. Would go to Nimes over tourist filled Rome any day.
