WELLNESS | Does mindfulness affect our bodies as well as our minds? Researchers have been exploring this question—with some surprising results. While much of the early research on mindfulness relied on pilot studies with biased measures or limited groups of participants, more recent studies have been using less-biased physiological markers and randomly controlled experiments to get at the answer. Taken together, the studies suggest that mindfulness may impact our hearts, brain, immune systems, and more. – UPLIFT © | https://upliftconnect.com/the-science-behind-mindfulness-and-good-health/

> A JUST PHILANTHROPY | The idea that Earth is a commodity, as are certain people living on it, is expressed through the accumulation of wealth derived from extractive & exploitative practices such as the theft of Indigenous land, the genocide of Indigenous people, the kidnapping and enslavement of millions of African people, and the systemic undervaluing of “women’s work.” Despite the gravity of these complex and intertwined systems of oppression, many social change endeavors have historically been based on the premise that through incremental steps, power could be built to move our society toward greater equality. – NPQ © | https://nonprofitquarterly.org/2018/12/04/5-lessons-to-guide-the-transition-to-a-more-just-philanthropy/

DARE to BE | When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully. When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light. When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it. When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway. When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back. When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some. When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going. When times are tough, dare to be tougher. When love hurts you, dare to love again. When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal. When another is lost, dare to help them find the way. When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand. When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile. When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too. When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best. Dare to be the best you can; at all times, dare to be!” ― Steve Maraboli | https://youtu.be/Vgk6SArKEQE ...

BUILDING a BETTER CANADA | Co-operatives & Mutuals Canada is a member-driven association that supports, promotes/unites co-operative & mutual organisations. It strives to advance the co-operative economy by organizing co-op development, advocating with government and conducting research to improve public policy. CMC serves as a common table for co-operatives/mutuals in Canada. Our strength comes from working together through the diversity of CMC’s membership. By working together we can develop & create an association whose work and collective reflection of its membership will ultimately build a better Canada. By furthering co-operatives and mutuals, we work to improve the lives of Canadians. Consider health care co-ops, Indigenous co-ops, agricultural co-ops, housing co-ops, food co-ops, funeral co-ops and co-ops in low-income communities – these and many others enable people to set up services they need, to access education, shelter, and a better standard of living.
