It can work. But it's not actually any less work than a more conventional relationship - you both have to work to keep the level of engagement at the right level (which if you think about it, that's also what a more conventional relatinship is doing, too). That's why these don't often go well. 
 
it can work, for a while. but in the end, it's doomed to failure, eventually, IMHO.
 
Emotions get involved and one person ends up wanting more than the other and that is where it goes wrong. And you're right, +Cindy Brown kinda has the same challenges as a conventional relationship..I lost my good friend because in the end he changed his mind and wanted to put a ring on it.
 
God wants us to understand that it's different strokes for different folks.
