IQ POINTS: MICRO-LASIK®

MICRO-LASIK® is a special technique pioneered by IQ Laser Vision’s Medical Director, Dr. Robert T. Lin, which creates an ultra-thin corneal flap that results in a number of benefits, including less dryness and increased corneal strength.

MICRO-LASIK® treats the same conditions as standard LASIK, but is ideal for patients with a high prescription and/or thin corneas. #IQLV #MICROLASIK #VISION

It’s surprising, but true! Recent research indicates that patients that wear #contactlenses over time are likely to develop complications including conjunctivitis, scratches, scrapes or infections, inflammation, damage to tear ducts and even hypoxia—the suffocation of the eye.

Constantly touching your eyes also exposes them to many more germs and contaminants than a lens-free lifestyle would. A safe, high-tech #LASIK procedure protects your eyes from these and other complications by allowing it to breathe freely, the way nature intended.

To search for a lasik surgen, I searched the term "wavefront lasik" since this is the latest and greatest type of lasik. This office is one of the few places that came up on Google Maps. All the reviews seemed good, so I decided to have a consultation at their location in the city of Industry. I was shocked not only at the size of the office, but how busy they were. Granted, I did come in on a Saturday, but the amount of staff on hand really speaks to how much business the office normally gets. The consultation went very well. I was given a thorough eye exam to determine how well of a candidate I would be and what type of procedures would be best. By the end of the tests, I was confident enough in their abilities that I scheduled my procedure for the following Friday. The procedure itself went very quickly. There's about an hour of prep time beforehand when they retake the eye exams just to make sure the machine is set up to give you the best results. The doctor talks you though every step of the procedure and tells you what to expect. I was most worried about keeping my eyes steady and possibly feeling the eye flap being cut, but it was actually a lot easier to do than I had expected. When the flap was cut, all I felt was something being put onto my eye and hearing a shucking sound. Right after I thought, "I think they just cut my eyeball!" Of course, the thought of what just happened was much worse than the actual event. After he lifts the flap open, the laser comes on for about 10-15 seconds. The flap is put back, and they do the other eye. You are taken to a dark room with a sofa right after to rest for about 15 min, then you can go home. You are given a tylenol and an ambien so that you can just sleep the rest of the day and take it easy. This was the part that I felt the most pain of the procedure. All it felt like was as if you are wearing contacts with some dust caught in between, or wearing contacts that are really old. Not really painful, just kind of annoying. I was already able to see clearly while walking out to the car. The next day there was still the feeling of old contacts, but as bad as right after the procedure. By Sunday it was almost unnoticeable. This was my birthday present to myself, and it is the best damn present ever! Don't psych yourself out about your eyeballs being cut open and all. Just focus on how much glasses and contacts suck.

You can masquerade sight with glasses and contact lenses, but in the end, true 20/20 sight is a blessing felt best by your very own eyes. You only live ONE life and to submit to a lifetime of depending on artificial happiness is a handicap to your true potential with perfect vision. I'm telling you this from experience, if you want a better quality of life, do something about it. Under the leadership of Dr. Lin, the IQ Laser Vision team is ready to change your fate and improve your happiness to the highest degree with you being the boss of your destiny. So hop in the driver's seat already and take charge of your life, because I'm telling you... money is money, but sight is priceless! - Duke

It's been 6 weeks since Dr. Robert Lin performed his custom wavefront Micro-LASIK procedure on me, and I couldn't be happier with my new vision! My latest check-up a couple of days ago yielded great results: I have 20/20 in my right eye and 20/15 in my left. After 14 years of wearing glasses and contacts (last prescription was around -2.25 with significant astigmatism), I'm so glad to have gotten LASIK and to have Dr. Lin and his very helpful and friendly staff fully support me through the whole process - even now. In fact, I'm so happy with IQ Laser Vision's service and confident in Dr. Lin's skills that I'm also having my mother get LASIK next week! I never thought that I would choose to get LASIK eye surgery, mostly because I always feared the pain and worst case scenario: blindness (which isn't really even true!) It all started only two months ago when I overheard my dental hygienist talking about how happy she was with the LASIK procedure she had done six months ago, and how her sister, fiance, and friends all had successful surgeries done by the same doctor several years apart. This information initially caught my attention and led me to Dr. Robert Lin's office for a consultation. I had scoured the internet researching the various types of vision-correcting surgeries, the pros and cons of each type of surgery and laser equipment, and the risks and short-term/long-term effects of having surgery done on the eyes. Naturally, I came into IQ Vision with many questions and concerns, all of which were answered by both the knowledgeable and patient staff and Dr. Lin himself, which I very much appreciated. Kelly, the patient coordinator, was so helpful with all the questions I had after my initial tests to see if I was a good candidate for LASIK. I even found out that Dr. Lin received a U.S. patent (hanging on the wall behind her desk) for his Micro-Lasik technology! How impressive! In addition, Dr. Lin has completed more than 25,000 procedures in the 15 years he's been practicing. From all my research and comparison consultations, I chose IQ Laser Vision because of Dr. Lin's extensive experience and skill, the great performance of the Allegretto wavefront laser, and the year-long post-surgery follow ups included in one price. It really feels like great customer service and experience is IQ Vision's company mission, and the result is an office that does not nickel and dime patients for extra post-surgery visits at extremely competitive prices. On the Saturday morning of the surgery, Dr. Robert (different from Dr. Lin), Ed and Kevin helped to calm my nerves and prep me for the LASIK procedure. Despite over 15 people running around, the office runs so efficiently it's like a well-oiled machine. You never feel like you've been forgotten because someone always comes over to make sure you're doing all right. In fact, everyone at IQ Vision was friendly, not just the people who were involved with my surgery. Although I was extremely nervous before the procedure, the surgery itself was painless and fast. Everything happens so quickly and carefully with Dr. Lin and his well-trained technicians. I was basically in and out of the surgery room within 10 minutes. Dr. Lin talks you through the whole procedure as he does it so you don't get worried (you can even ask the staff to take a video of the surgery for you to watch in the future). I would definitely recommend taking the Ambien they give you as soon as you're driven home after the surgery and to sleep for as long as you can. You'll feel great and be able to see as soon as you wake up. I'm also happy that Dr. Richard and Dr. Nguyen (the optometrists), and the rest of the staff have continued to be extremely helpful even during all my post-procedure examinations. They always take the time to answer my questions which makes me even sure that this would be the place I will continue to recommend to my friends and loved ones. I'm so thankful to Dr. Lin and everyone at IQ Laser Vision!

I checked out four different places other than IQ Laser Vision. In the end I chose IQ Laser Vision because they have a respected reputation, results, and great pricing. My friend had her eye's done at this place a year ago too and she is still happy with her results. I went to get my eyes done on Jan 4th at the City of Industry location. I had nearsightedness of -4.00 with a slight astigmatism, how I have 20/20 vision. It feels great to wake up without looking for my glasses. By the way I hear Dr. Maloney at Maloneyvision lasik center gives his patients a box of chocolate after the surgery, well Dr. Lin gives you a big tasty bottle full of Omega 3,6 & 9 which is good for your heart, mind, and eyes. I rather take the health bottle over chocolate any day.
