Supposed to be upscale mexican, but the food and the service when i went (once) were not worth the money. Not bad, but I think there is better mexican available for less money.

Food was not so good for the price...

Don't show up with high expectations. The food was terrible. Even if the food had been decent, I would've said it's over priced. The service was pretty terrible too. My boyfriend and I went for dinner. We started with salsa and guacamole. Both salsas tasted processed and were not good. The guacamole was okay. The chips were a little stale. My boyfriend had salmon enchiladas and said the fish was dry. He finished the place, but he said he wouldn't order it again. I follow a vegan a diet, so I asked our server what on the menu is vegan. He said nothing. This was not what I was told when I called a head of time. He reluctantly asked the kitchen if they could do anything vegan, and they said no.(This is Madison. Vegans are not unheard of here. Plus, I called ahead.). There was one side salad on the menu, so I got it. The dressing was bizarre. It was supposed to be a vinaigrette, but it tasted old and processed as well. The side of pickled veggies was good, but that's pretty much it. Some friends of ours had a much better experience, but we won't be going back.

I am from Mexico City and don't have time to visit my country often..but I always find myself missing the flavors in my grandmothers kitchen. A couple of friends and I visited Cilantro this past weekend and I have to say I will be going back soon! The food was fresh nothing out of a can or pre-made, our waitress was knowledgeable in the menu and the flavors of all the salsa's. My friends and I ordered different plates and shared a bit with each other. I can honestly say that I finally found a restaurant that does authentic Mexican and does not add that American taste good traditional food.

Weird experience. Friends recommended Cilantro, so I tried to make reservations. I called during their posted hours, but only got voicemail. I went to their web-based reservation service, but it said their computer was down. Finally, my wife and I drove to the restaurant - again, during their posted hours. There was a hand-written sign on a white board saying "Closed - Thank You". Are they out of business?

Overall, we really liked the dishes we had for Saturday brunch. We had the omelet with mole sauce, the vegetarian enchiladas and the crepas with the plantains for dessert. We especially liked the freshness of the vegetables in the enchiladas (the pyramid of rice on the side was a nice touch). The mole sauce on the omelet was excellent but there was far too much and it overwhelmed the other ingredients (less is more sometimes). We also had the horchata to drink and that was spectacular.

My Fiance and I decided to try Cilantro for lunch on Saturday afternoon since it's close to our place. The Menu was confusing and the waiter was less than clear on his explanations of the dishes. I gave up on listening to his descriptions and opted for the lunch buffet since they were touting the special sale. The lunch buffet offered rice, cowboy casserole, stuffed peppers, mushroom quesadillas, scrambled eggs, and a two other dishes that were an unrecognizable mess of mushed up food, and "Fresh" fruit. Everything was cold, bland and visually unappealing. This buffet will hurt business as long as it's this horrible. The only other complaint I have is charging $3.00 for a cup of coffee which was also cold.

Loved the mole, but all 4 of us had wonderful dishes. The service was great also. Much improved since opening. Great margaritas too!

Cilantro hasn't shared anything with you.
