Avoid avoid at all costs... i went here today as a new place to try.. i figured service was going to be poor but i wouldn't mind... not only was it poor it was beyond that... place has gone down hill wait staff were the loudest people eating and hanging out all at the same time... main host is just eating and counting money.... food was way overpriced. We sat for 15 minutes and never were asked what to drink nor brought water(nasty btw) and mind u there were only 3 other tables being waited on thats it... we ordered salt and pepper shrimp, kung pow shrimp, general tso, and clams in blackbean sauce, house fried rice, and a tsing tao. All entrees over salted, white rice additional cost. General tso was skimppy, kungpow shrimp was decent but it was more like watercrest with beef. In the end tab ran to 113.52$ i can see why no one was in there!!

Avoid this place the food was over salted and over priced. The portions were tiny even for Manhattan prices. The waiter tried many times to convince us to get the fixed dinner which had basic american chinese takeout fare. And to top it all off they charged the tip and tried to hide it in the bill.

As Ming Tsai, of Emmy-nominated PBS series "Simply Ming" chose Shanghai Cuisine as his FAVORITE Downtown DUMPLING Simply Delisioso! The BEST( Veg) Downtown DUMPLIINGS: shitake mushrooms, cabbage: the simple life + bite of bitter vinegar will put hair on your chest. It's located directly across the street from the Chen Dance Center, which is how I discovered this awesome place. Its delicious but as the honest waitstaff mention the fish portions are slim (but fresh, tender & succulent) & flavors are mega tasty (good for dieting) :) You can watch the dumplings being made thru the window, and it's a bit like live culinary theater; yes its that FRESH!

Service was awful. Manager was unprofessional. Drinks were terrible, absolutely no flavor and dim sum was so subpar, I couldn't even believe it. I was expecting so much better. I will never come back.

Good occidentalized Chinese food but not the place you want to go if you are looking for a real Chinatown experience. Here you will get what you would find anyplace else in the US or even in Europe. It is way too expensive, especially when one block further you would enjoy a more traditional food in the middle of people only speaking Chinese; including the waiters for a ridiculously low price. Only a place for those who don't want to try something really different.

We came upon this place by accident but we were lucky! The dumplings were delicious, tasty and light. Kung Po Chicken and crispy duck mains were too big but very tasty and fresh. Fruit smoothies were yummy too! Great value for money and you can take left-overs home for tomorrow!
