Let us share with you the exciting and exhilarating sport of Colorado rockclimbing. Join us on an adventure filled with fun, beautiful scenery, and the rewards of overcoming mental and physical challenges, all within the safety of our professionally trained AMGA guides. Whether you are a first time family looking for a day of fun, or are a veteran of the walls of Yosemite, we have something to offer for everyone and every level.

We offer a variety of climbing day activities to fit whatever your skill level or goals may be. Join us for a ½ day Intro to Rockclimbing Class, perfect for families or those with limited time. Make it a full-day of climbing either at a relaxed pace for the entire family, or for smaller groups looking to push their skill levels and intensity. Or for the more experienced, join us on a full-day course focusing on gear systems and safety, culminating with an ascent of an area multi-pitch test-piece, a technical alpine peak climb, or a day in the Taylor Canyon.

At Harmel's there is a mount to suit everyone from children seven years old to the most experienced rider. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced trail rides leave Harmel's three times per day - every day. From riding lessons to wilderness rides, Harmel's has it all!

Pack-out with our wranglers and head into the high country and let us treat you to true luxury in the mountains, spend a night out at our "Hilton on the Hill". Listen to the coyotes harmonize as we cook your steak over a roaring campfire. Be amazed at the spectacle of stars in the heavens, so close you can practically touch them. One guest told us it was so quiet out there "...you could hear the satellites go over." The view is simply magnificent.

Relax and just listen or jump right in and sing a few songs around the campfire. Telling stories around the campfire is known in cowboy parlance as "Spinnin' the Windmill" and is part of our western heritage.

The high trail camp is located in one of natures most beautiful spots, nestled in a grove of quaking aspen, with a natural sweet water spring only a few steps away. The accommodations at the high camp are in roomy floor tents with cots, pillows and warm sleeping bags, each with it's own flannel liner.

Our riding program is based on developing your riding skills. We do this by separating our guests by age and riding skill whenever possible, then matching them up with one of our experienced horses. Each day we offer six regularly scheduled rides organized by skill level; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Our rides vary in length; one hour, two hour, half-day, all-day, or overnight. Horsemanship lessons are also available.

Every trail ride is through the magnificent and rugged Taylor Canyon and into the Fossil Ridge Wilderness area on some of the same trails used over one hundred years ago by the original pioneers and of course the local wildlife.

Unsurpassed for its natural beauty, the glacier carved Taylor Canyon widens at Harmel's and then proceeds, at slower speed, for seven more miles before meeting the East River forming the headwaters of the mighty Gunnison River.

The Taylor River trips offer something for every member of your group or family, from mild to wild. This is a scenic narrow river that meanders through the Taylor Canyon. You travel through areas where the canyon walls rise straight up from the river banks and often there are bighorn sheep sightings along the river. If you are lucky, you may even see elk, deer or an occasional black bear.

You have just found one of the best cold water fisheries in the state of Colorado! Our 3/4 of a mile of waters including the Taylor River and tributaries has been said to be "twice the fishing at half the price" of the Frying Pan near Aspen. No guides required. Our fee to fish per person is $100/day or FREE if you are a guest of Harmel's. Come to enjoy our beautiful scenery and the wiley trout; stay to enjoy our comfortable accommodations, great food and friendly staff.

Harmel's Ranch Resort trophy fishery is known as "Rainbow Heaven". Fed by high mountain lakes, (Taylor and Spring Creek Reservoirs), Harmel's Gold Medal quality waters are at the confluence of Spring Creek, Beaver Creek, and the famous Taylor River. Just downstream the Taylor River meets the East River to form the Gunnison River which flows into Blue Mesa Reservoir, the largest lake in Colorado.

At an altitude of 8,412 feet and surrounded by 1.6 million acres of the Gunnison National Forest, Harmel's has posted private rivers, beaver ponds, and a stocked kids pond to chose from. We catch BIG FISH; rainbows, browns, cutthroat, and brookies right out your cabin door. Our helpful guides are equipped to satisfy your every fishing need, and would be happy to answer any questions you have about our private stretch or the local public waters.

Mark Anderson has been busy this winter with some valuable projects! We have added a sliding glass door and an operable window to the movie room called The Rusty Spur. This will provide great ventilation during our 8pm family movie! And the pool area now has a bathroom - it will be located in the Hitchin' Post Lodge building on the far end. No more trekking back to the cabin! Looks like we're going to have another fun filled summer for 2015 - give us a call to make a reservation 1.800.235.3402, email us at stay@harmels.com
