Great restaurant, left very satisified with the margherita pizza and some nice red wine. A really pleasant experience. A nice surprise actually.

As we came in a little early (6PM) we had a privilege to get a head of that day's special - suckling pig. Which was a treat - perfectly done and served. The waiter was very mindful and helpful with recommendations. Sardines appetizer was fairly large and very good. Overall food is rustic without brutality, high-class homey. One of the best uses of a wooden oven we seen in a restaurant. Peach pie dessert was good - but keep in mind it is good for three people.

Burrata appetizer with roasted tomatoes was delicious. Lamb ragu was also tasty with lamb flavor albeit little visible lamb. A thoughtful selection of wines and a pleasant bar. Downside: The "white chocolate" ice cream was very obviously a Breyers-style vanilla. Big disappointment to end an otherwise fine meal.

Horrifying. Stay away. I booked a dinner for 2, special anniversary occasion, food was uneatable, they took it off the bill, service was good but manager should be fired immediately. Arrogant, completely inappropriate, I will never return. She comp'ed my bill and refused to allow me to order another dish. It came to shouting in the middle of my special occasion. I'm beside myself.

Whether you want romance, great food, intelligent ambiance Peasant brings you all of the above with consistency. The dry aged Tbone was divine but if you want something really special but I advise trying the chefs special as they are very special. As you walk in the mood is set with busy NYC bustle, wood fire burning, and Italian Aromatics.
