Proceedings (Session Notes)  -

Free to be a Man (In the workplace) by Aaron Suedmeyer

Originally this was going to be
Feminine at work : An Explorations of Beauty, Power & Safety

In a discussion before the session, I realized that what I really wanted was to explore how to be more expressed.

We started with a meditation to slow down and drop into our bodies. Then we discussed what brought us here. Then we did a walking meditation to focus on the space and energy created by different genders. We did some boundary exploration. Clarified our fears or inhibition. Then created a celebration of gender differences.

Proceedings (Session Notes)  -

Lets explore different types of human interaction, today we are going to break those into 4 Categories:

Win-Lose - I win you lose Ex: Contract Negotiation or Sports

Lose-Win - I lose you win Ex: Going to a movie you know you’ll hate with your partner

Lose-Lose - we both lose Ex: Bad divorce

Win-Win - we both win : Win-win is a frame of that constantly seeks mutual benefit. Win/ Win means that agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial. Where all parties feel good about the decision and feel committed to the action plan.

So how do we have win-win interaction? There are 3 key parts:

Integrity, which is clearly identifying our values, acting in accordance with those values and making and keeping meaningful promises and commitments. What do we want and what do we want to offer?

Maturity, which is the balance between courage and consideration. The ability to express one’s own feeling and convictions (courage) balanced with the ability to listen to the thoughts and feeling of others. How do we listen and do we communicate what we want?

Abundance mindset, which is the perspective that there is plenty for everyone. Which flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. The opposite is that there only one pie and we are all fighting for a piece. This results in there always being a loser and a winner. So to have a win-win interaction then a abundance mindset is key. This I think is the most difficult and the most powerful. What limiting beliefs do we hold? Or what if we were not struggling to have enough what if there was enough What is possible?

GROUP DISCUSSION about Abundance Mindset
How do we have create an Abundance Mindset for ourselves? Given that example of time, everyone wants more time. What if there was an abundance of time? You had as much as you wanted to. What would you do? …. Time is not the issue. We are trying to solve the wrong problem. The question is given the time that you have what will you do. That is an interesting question. Now let’s dive deeper into how to create an Abundance Mindset.

A few examples from the group gave were different practices like meditation, yoga, NVC. A spiritual practice of some kind was key.

Additionally there was talk about how to affect change with the 3 S’s: Support (mentor/teacher), Social (friends and co-workers), Structure (Your schedule and the physical stuff in your life)

Output from session:
How do we create an abundance mindset.

▪ Implement change by shifting the Structure(physical), Social(community) & Support(teachers/mentors)
▪ It takes dedicated and deliberate practice
▪ Medication or Awareness (NVC) non-violent communication
▪ Immediate transformation
▪ Overcome fear

Possible Actions:
Pat on the back
Make things visible and people will care.
Practice Positivity
Celebration
Focus on big picture

I would like to do a session on Abundance Mindset. A brief description :: This is the perspective that there is plenty for everyone. Which flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. The opposite is that there only one pie and we are all fighting for a piece. This results in there always being a loser and a winner. So to have win-win interactions then a abundance mindset is key. This I think is the most difficult and the most powerful.
