Misty sunset. Grand Canyon NP, July 2016.
A few things puzzeled me when I sat down to process this image. First of all, the bird. I honestly admit that I didn't notice it at the time of exposure. But I think it's a nice detail. Second, the apparent two beams down in the canyon in the middle of the image. I noticed the beautiful light down there, and that was one of the main subjects for my exposure, but I didn't notice that it was two beams. And I cannot explain them, either, because there are no mountains or structures on the other side to give such an effect. Of course it could be clouds, but I find it a little strange. Third, the warm light on the nearby canyon wall to the left. I guess it must be a result of reflected light from the rim I was standing on. So, an image full of surprises for me there... :) Hope you like it, have a great week!

Old Oaktree. Yosemite National Park, June 2016.
(c) Dag Ole Nordhaug    nordhaugphotography.com

Ok, I'll gladly admit it: I have a thing for photographing forests and trees. As much as I love a grand vista, I find it very satisfying to wander around in a dense, preferably untouched old-growth forest looking for compositions. I found this old oak many years ago when I first visited Yosemite, and decided to return when the light was right. As things would have it, years went by and I forgot all about her. Until this years visit that is. I returned late one afternoon when the sun was low and barely could shine through the dense foliage. Fortunately there was no wind so the long exposure rendered the leaves and brances tack sharp. Hope you like it, have a splendid evening!

Clearing summer storm. Grand Canyon National Park, July 2016.
After a few hours of scouting, looking for various compositions, between Mather- and Yavapai points I could see a storm building up to the west. Fortunately, I had brought both a rain-jacket and a raincover for my camera, so I could just enjoy the show. An hour passed by with intense rain and lightning. I was having the time of my life capturing it all. As the storm passed further east, skies started to clear and this wonderful doubble rainbow appeared. Hope you like it, have a super sunday!

Divine light, Lofoten. Norway, may 2016.
After having worked a couple of hours on Haukland beach in Lofoten, struggeling with dull light, we saw something happening in the sky to the west. We drove through the tunnel to Utakleiv and was greeted by a totally spectacular divine light. Driving frenetically down to the beach, paying the toll by (more or less) throwing cash out of the car window in full speed, my photo buddy and I started to shoot in the car, continued while running out and down the hill to the shore, in fear of missing out on the whole situation. Well, the light shifted a bit, but basically lasted for the better part of a couple of hours, giving us good time to find the right foreground. This image is a two exposure composite, one for the foreground and one for the sky, for exposure compensation, captured at the same position only seconds apart. Hope you like it, have a splendid evening!

Glacier Point sunset. Yosemite NP, June 2014.
A cliche, I know, but that doesn't make this place less beautiful. I'm planning a new visit there shortly, and in that process I ran through my images from previous visits and found this one. Hope you like it, have a super week good folks!
