A study finds that 10 states could supply 35 percent of the country's solar electricity—if they weren't hindering the expansion of renewable energy.

Another approach to myelin repair is the transplantation of myelin repair promoting stem cells. Advances in this approach were reported by Dr. Saud Sadiq from the Tisch MS Center in New York, who is attempting to promote myelin repair by transplantation of bone marrow derived stem cells into the spinal cord. Dr. Sadiq presented preliminary findings from treatment of 13 people with progressive forms of MS. He reported no serious adverse events so far (the trial has not yet been completed). There are also hints that some people may be responding to the treatment. But the trial is not designed to detect a clinical benefit, so caution should be used when interpreting these results. I look forward to the completion of this study and the publication of the full results
Tremendous advances in the understanding and treatment of MS were presented last week at the AAN Meeting in Vancouver. One of the areas getting the most attention was myelin repair. Myelin...

Mental illness is still a stigma, but there are ways to relieve the symptoms. Read this about famous schizophrenic people.
Mental illness remains a stigma although the world is full of people with mental illness. Although a lifelong issue many can find relief with medications, therapy, exercise and other treatments. http://www.webmd.com/schizophrenia/ss/slideshow-schizophrenia-...

A retired baby boomer, fiercely independent, feminist, author, gardener, be here now proponent, funny, see's the good in everyone, political activist for the disabled and environment, writer to politicians, letters to the editor, counter culture lifestyle, Willamette Valley and Eugene lover
Introduction
I came West from the mid west in the early 1980's planning on coming back but as life sometimes does, a new path opened up before me. I love Oregon and especially the Willamette valley which is part of the temperate rain forest, sheltered by the Pacific we rarely see snow.  I worked nearly ten years as a forester all over Oregon and New Mexico doing timber stand inventories.  I lived in a tent with a group of mismatched vagabonds who taught me how to cruise timber and how to exist in the wild. Then I worked 35 years in service to the disabled and loved every minute of it.  I published three novels "From the Waters's of Coyote Springs" taken part from my journals when I lived in a tent doing timber surveys near Joseph Oregon, and "Felix and Eve" based in Gold Beach on the southern coast of Oregon, i lived a summer with an elderly man who was recovering from heart bi-pass surgery, our two completely different lifestyles kept it interesting and humorous, a set in his ways man and a live in the moment woman.  He told of the days when he worked for the notorious gangster Al Capone. "The thrid book "The Arrangement" is based in Eugene, a retired baby boomer now settles down and buys a house, a friend lives in his yurt in her back yard.  Once a year after they attend The Country Fair she travels to Catalina Island to visit an old friend and they relive the days of the counter culture generation. all three books are available onsmashwords.com/amazon.com/barnesandnoble.com, which can be read on e device or downloaded to a computer.
I spend my days gardening, writing another novel, doing activism for people with disabilities and writing my congress men and women. I enjoy the company of a wonderful friend who I've been roommate to for 22 years, keeping to my motto, "No more dogs or husbands"
Bragging rights
Lived in some of the most remote wilderness in Oregon and New Mexico. I published three novels, I survived two divorces, I lived on a farm in WI and survived some of the most hostile winters imaginable, keeping warm with wood heat. I survived a few mid-life crisis's. I always landed on my feet and found good people wherever I went.
