Smelly sewers, dirty pavements and construction on the way from hotel to pavillion mall/ bukit bintang. Disappointing location.

over expection of this 5 star hotel and kinda over rated on some rating website. The breakfast buffet has quite choices of food, but the taste is plain. This is the reason I cancel to try the dinner buffet. the plus point is the christmas decoration last year is superb.
Response from the owner - 3 months ago
Dear ladymilano, we are glad that you have enjoyed our Christmas decoration. We have taken note of your comments regarding our buffet breakfast. Regards, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

A very nice hotel. Excellent food. Good location. Very clean and tidy with exemplary customer service. A nice oasis in this congested city.

One of the older hotels in KL yet still going strong & a personal favourite of many staying guests, both local & foreign. Impeccable service & attention. And I really love how this hotel always smell so good! Love it!

Stayed 3 nights. Hotel 3 minutes from monorail and 10 minutes (although the straightforward walk to Petronas towers is taking life into your hands with the quality if the pavements and drivers not stopping at crossings) to the underground station in the basement of the huge shopping centre at base of petronas tower . Hotel felt 5 star with friendly service. Room fine with large safe. Gym good. Pool ok size but pool toilet/changing room needs refurbishment. Large buffet breakfast was good, Only had better in Las Vegas. Minor to prove a) quality of smoked salmon b) muesli not interesting! C) bread looked better than it tasted. Eat also their seafood buffet one night that was good also (but not world class) Found the white chalk X mark on my hot door to show I had late 14:00 checkout surreal. NB as having internet problems they quickly put a router in the hotel room.

Very nice room. Quiet. Really great gym. They have everything you can possibly want including a great room for core workouts. Best gym in the area so far.

Went to the Lemon Garden Cafe for dinner buffet with family weeks ago. Found them now a bit disappointing as compare to the Shangri-La KL of yore. The skin of the Dim sum, har gow (prawn dumpling) was seriously torn which could be due to repeated steaming. The taste of the Cantonese Yee noodle with prawns was somewhat similar to those I had in the food court at shopping malls, just only the prawns were much better. Even the simple roti canai, an Indian food, was a let down. It was too oily (the majority of mamak stalls in Klang Valley can churned out much better roti.) and then the dhal curry was no way to be found whereas other curries were just so so. Most probably the reason being that the cooks behind the counter were not really Indians. The same could be said of the Cantonese noodle, I suspected as they were cooked behind a walled kitchen. And lastly, three of the pastries which ran out were not replenish (I only had a glimpse of them when I came in. Waited for one hour until time to leave but still not replenished. Apparently they only have one round of the pastries).Only the coffee deserved a compliment. One of the most expensive buffet but somewhat mediocre in quality. Felt shortchanged as this reputed to be the best buffet in town but now seemed history.
