Just to be clear the Original Pitbull Terrier was bread in England to be the Nanny dog for the first 114 years of their breeding, the Nanny's would leave the dogs with the children while they ran for a snack, bottle etc. thus why they are in general so good with children. As for the American Pitbull Terrier they are bread with the Amer. Bulldog and the Mastiff and are in general a lean muscular bread with the standard height of 1.5 to 2' tall, 35-100 lbs depending the amount of Mastiff to Bully ratio. The smaller bread is usually mixed with the Amer. Staff Terrier. Amer Pitbulls in general are gentle giants and often confused. Man has taken this bread and un justifiably abominated it's gentle loyal nature. This is a poor example of how the dog should be treated and nurtured anyone, doing this kind of training has mal intent for any breed not just the pit. I have had large breeds, Komondors, Great Dane Amer Pt mix, and Fox Terriers my entire life. I had an american Pit name Ocean, best gentle dog ever at 2' 97 lbs a tall thin guy who sang to Michael Jackson, and now have a smaller 35lb, American Pit Halo, who stands at 1.8'. These dogs are gentle loving family dogs. Lets be better to them and all creatures great and small.
