I endorse this rant. I've actually been enjoying instagram, as a relatively select content feed for killing a few minutes, but man it's anti-web. My gripe to add to this list: URLs in comments or posts aren't clickable! This is the reason so many posts say "link in my bio", because your bio is literally the only place you can have a clickable URL. (and that in turn means nothing is permanent, because you have to keep updating your bio, invalidating the previous post referring to it).

Their website has a non-paywall copy of the paper ("read more"): http://deepmind.com/alpha-go.html
Can a computer master the ancient game of Go? With more possible board configurations than the number of atoms in the universe, experts have long thought it to be impossible. But a system developed by researchers at Google DeepMind, called AlphaGo, has done it.

Combining a state-of-the-art Monte-Carlo tree search with two deep neural networks, AlphaGo not only has defeated the top existing Go programs at the forefront of A.I. research, but also has defeated reigning 3-time European Go champion Fan Hui.

The next challenge will be to play the top Go player in the world over the last decade, Lee Sedol, this March in Seoul, South Korea. To learn more, visit the Google Research blog, linked below.

I'm looking for my next challenge. I've long been working on building free and open source software communities, as a serial organiser of +PyCon Australia, a council member at Linux Australia, and future organiser of linux.conf.au. I want to work somewhere that I can put these skills to use, and build them up even further.

So, if you know of somewhere that needs a me-shaped hole to fill, let's get in touch!

My second favourite thing about trail running is the eating.

_After a 100 miler, I fall asleep with a pizza next to my bed. This way, when I wake up ravenous, since I’m generally too wrecked to walk to the kitchen, the calories are right there. This is a serious strategy. _

Prismatic (the content discovery side of things) is shutting down. Not too surprising at this point, but still disappointing.
