A Martin PBM Mariner is hoisted aboard the seaplane tender USS Curtiss (AV-4) during the Korean War.

Mariners were used to good effect as mine hunters during the Korean War. The long range of the aircraft allowed it to follow the Korean shoreline, locating mine fields that would interfere with naval operations.
