Is the long period of unrivalled success of Apple slowly taking its toll on the company? Many people have been disappointed with the iPhone 5, and now there are various complaints about some of the new software on i0S 6 and in particular the new Maps application. Were Apple right to sever ties with Google, who basically had a monopoly on the Maps service beforehand? With Google so competitive in the smartphone market now, Apple simply couldn't afford to continue giving Google a free kick by having their services installed on every device they sold (note that YouTube is now an App that has to be downloaded too...)

The reality is though that the media loves to cover anything that has to do with Apple, so this may really be a 'storm in a teacup' - sales of the new iPhone will be a concrete indicator of the market's reception of the latest phone and update.
