Common Mistakes Made By Momentum Investors
Like most other investors, those using momentum are often guilty of
chasing performance. In fact, momentum requires that we do this. But it
should be done in a disciplined and systematic way using well-researched

A Gospel reading for All Hallows Eve

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

If the S&P500 index closes out October below 2075 or so, I will be looking to take some money off the table. If below the 200-day moving average (now at 2068) then even more so. "Buying the dip" works if the trend is UP... but if the trend is broken, it no longer works.

In my limited choice 401(k) and HSA, emerging market funds and some foreign developed funds are starting to dominate on a 1-year momentum basis.

MINGX MFS International Value +15.15%
VEIEX Vanguard Emerging Markets +13.18%

The winds are changing. Maybe October will be a time to rotate.

It's called "Shut up and pay, you criminal citizens!"

A German Bank Finally Caves: Will Charge Retail Investors A Negative 0.4% Deposit Rate

Raiffeisen Gmund am Tegernsee, a German cooperative savings bank in the Bavarian village of Gmund am Tegernsee, with a population 5,767, finally gave in to the ECB's monetary policy, and announced it’ll start charging retail customers to hold their cash.
Starting September, for savings in excess of €100,000, the community’s Raiffeisen bank will CHARGE a 0.4% rate. That represents the first direct pass through of the current level of the ECB’s negative deposit rate on to retail depositors.
