There must be something in the Royal water in Sweden.
Sweden's pregnant princess duo delighted royal fans when they showed off their baby bumps at a dinner at Stockholm's palace with just weeks to go to their respective due dates.

This will make an interesting but a harrowing read.
Hamish Hamilton and Alfred A Knopf are publishing a memoir by Granta editor Sigrid Rausing in spring 2017.

Best of Expat Books in 2015, including my latest novel, The Navy Wife, is headlining today's Muswell Hill Media Daily. I'm thrilled, especially as the list includes such massively popular authors as Isabel Allende.

My latest novel, The Navy Wife, is listed amongst best books of 2015!
The title of this post is a lie: you didn’t miss anything. It’s we who missed our deadline of publishing, at the end of 2015, a list of books for, by and about expats. Dare I suggest that our procr...

I very nearly called my main protagonist in The Englishman series Katja, but she became Kaisa instead. Just as well, really?

Email is still the best way to communicate directly with your readers. Here are 8 tips on how to engage with them effectively.
Pinterest, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram may be the marketing platforms that earn all the buzz, but here’s a fact: Your email list is a more valuable direct-to-consumer marketing tool than all of those social media sites put together. The power of your community exists in your list — those people who have actively …

That is a good point! I still use Goodreads to find books for myself, but also post books I've read and liked onto Pinterest. I do a lot of reviews on my blog. Here is my author page, if you have't yet, please sign up for my  newsletter! ;-) http://www.helenahalme.com

"The crew will go on patrol for about 80 days, unable to communicate during that time with their families." Kaisa in my latest novel, The Navy Wife, finds it hard to come to terms with the long absences of her navy husband, and his role as part of the machinery of war. Times haven't changed much since the 1980's, except that the subs go away for even longer periods now.

I'm delighted to be interviewed by Jane Davis on her highly popular Virtual Book Club today. I talk about the romantic scenes in The Navy Wife, how being an expat Finn has shaped my writing, and much, much more. Hope you enjoy the article!

Bragging rights
It seems I love studying. I have an MSc in Economics from Hanken in Helsinki, MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University and I'm Member of Association of Accounting Technicians. My long suffering children are used to their mother having her nose in a book, though these days it's more likely to be a fiction title rather than boring accountancy. Oh, and I've been married to the English sailor over 25 year now. That's worth bragging about if nothing else?
