I understand many of us don’t want to think about lifeinsurance, for ourselves, our spouses, I know I don’t, but what’s worse istaking the chance that something does happen and then what? Life insurance isimportant for your loved ones you may be leaving behind, take care of them evenwhen you are gone.

If your home were to burn down and your insurance company undervalued your claim how would you respond? My suggestion to you would to be to start taking photos of all your possessions now, this way you can have before pictures. And if you ever were to have a catastrophe like this happen to your home, take after photos and you have something your insurance company can compare to.

A mistake often made, you are trying to get all your shopping done and time is running out, you buy the items on your list and leave them in the car as you go back into the mall to buy more of the items. But keep in mind when you get back to your car there is a chance the items, especially large electronic items, may not be there anymore. Make big purchases last and if possible drop everything off at home as quickly as possible. You don’t want to attract the wrong people.

Holidays are crazy, and with all our rush to get a good deal we have to keep in mind we may not be the only ones out trying to‘get a good deal’. A few things we can do to keep ourselves safer during this time are leave the purse at home, for women, try keeping your keys and credit cards in your pockets. And carry as little cash and few credit cards as possible. And for men, keep your wallet in your front pocket instead of back, less chance of pickpockets.

Giving tree benefits forgotten seniors. The Haverhill Council on Aging Giving Tree wasup on Monday, November 28. Local nursing homes have many forgotten elderly who have no families or visitors, and we look forward to delivering wrapped gifts for them to spread holiday cheer. Please stop by the Citizens Center with a wrapped gift to be distributed to a local nursing home. Nightgowns, pajamas,T-shirts, slippers, toiletries are all great gifts. We ask that the gifts be wrapped and labeled with contents. We will deliver them in time for Christmas! http://bit.ly/slNwNn

"Gingy'' is back.
The wooden gingerbread man that fell victim to vandals during the last holiday season, creating an uproar in the community, will return to Columbus Park for the city's annual Christmas Stroll. Gingy is ready to go thanks to the surgical efforts of woodworking students at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School who recreated the gingerbread man after vandals stole Gingy from the park and later returned him in pieces.

Celebrate the holiday season and explore downtown Haverhill during Haverhill’s annual Christmas Stroll. The stroll takes place December 2nd from 5 to 8pm. This is a family friendly event with activities including a light show, hayrides, live music, and an appearance by Santa Claus to light the Christmas tree.
