Nice hangout spot downtown with live music and good food. I have gone to MKT Bar a few times when I found myself downtown, usually before or after a Rockets game. I like it there. There is usually a diverse mix of people in the bar. I like the food, the atmosphere, the prices aren't too bad. If I lived downtown, I would go alot more often.

I stopped by there on my way back to Houston from Baton Rouge. I saw the signs on the freeway, so I checked it out. Walked in and the line wrapped around the inside of the place. The line moved really quickly as they had 3 cashiers working up front. There is cooked/foods along with frozen/fresh foods that you can cook at home. They even had a meat section with season brisket and other smoking/grilling staples. I ordered some Boudin roll-ups, Boudin balls, and crawfish pie. We ate our self-made "sampler package" on the road. Everything smelled good, looked good, but we were a bit sckeptical. We immediately felt like we should turn around and go get more. Excellent food. I definitely will be making a stop at Billy's everytime I am anywhere near the area. I should have bought some of those frozen roll-ups. I definitely will next time.

Rookies is not really a sports bar in the traditional sense. Without HDTVs and the TVs they do have in some weird locations along without many of the sports pacakges, you probably wouldn't want to there to check out a game that isn't available on basic cable. What they do have is good food and drink specials. Daily drink specials and really good food in on the menu. The food is better than your normal bar food. The biggest downer is the service. During the day the bartender usually has to make drinks, take food orders, and deliver the food when ready. Also, like many smaller bars, if you aren't a regular and have an established relationship with the staff, you might get poor service. I have seen waittresses chatting it up with customers while their table sits waiting for service. Sitting at the bar can remedy this, but shouldn't be the case. Cool place with the service issues really holding it back from being a really good place that could gain some mass appeal as there isn't much competition in the area.‎ In the end, it still is a cool place to hang out, but go in knowing that service may not be the greatest.

My wife and I have been to Chi a few times. I like the food, but love the atmosphere. Most of our visits have taken place late in the evening. Either after a concert at the Pavillion or on the way home from an event in the city. At that time, the restaurant pumps up dance music and offers a happy hour menu. The prices are cheaper, the quality is still great. I really like the fusion of dance music, sushi and good service. I will honestly say that the late night scene there isn't for everyone. You end up eating while attending a Justice or Skrillex concert, but the combination works for me. If you aren't into that combination, dining during the day or early evening might be better for you.
