I was having a nice night until I read that Darwyn Cooke passed away today. Now I'm really bummed out.

Okay, tomorrow's October 21st, 2015, so where's my flying Delorean that runs on garbage?

Eleven weeks of camp went by way too fast. I'm really missing my campers as I realize I'm not going to see them tomorrow morning.

This is right on the money and hopefully gets people talking about education policy in this country.  Thank you John Oliver!

I'm really sad to hear about the passing of Leonard Nimoy today.  Star Trek was incredibly important to me when I was growing up, and Nimoy was a huge part of that.  I remember as a child trying to get my one eyebrow to rise like Mr. Spock's did (never could do it).  But what really strikes me about Leonard Nimoy is not how good he was at playing a role that was special to me, but just how good he was at being a human being.  Everything I have ever seen or heard about the man tells me that he was just a really great guy and a guy with a well rounded set of interests as well.  I cringed a bit earlier this evening as I saw a reporter talking to George Takei about Leonard Nimoy's passing.  All the interviewer seemed to want to talk about was Star Trek (despite the fact that he didn't seem all that familiar with the show), even as Takei was talking about other aspects of the man.  That said, as far as legacies go, Mr. Spock and all the character stands for and all the people he inspired is a pretty good one.

This is awesome.  Great to see Paul McGann get another crack at playing The Doctor.  I've always thought that he did a great job in the '90's TV movie, even if the material he was given to work with wasn't especially great.

I was surprised last week when I realized that I know one of the new kids on The Walking Dead.  Now it's a little weird seeing him freak out during a zombie attack in tonight's episode.

I'm watching the special features on the Wall-E Blu-ray and just saw my old college roomate (they were showing members of the crew).  Weird, but kind of cool at the same time.

Used my unexpected day off to go see "Man of Steel" today.  I know it's been getting mixed reviews from the critics, but I thought it was fantastic.

This is shaping up to be a wonderfully nerdy weekend.  Star Trek: Into Darkness was great (and had a Man of Steel trailer in front of it that's got me really excited for that movie).  The Doctor Who finale was chock full of Doctor and has me wishing for my own TARDIS so I could skip ahead to November 23.  Now I just have to think of a capper for Sunday.
