The source of our bathroom lights not working; a wire connector has fell off these wires and they've become slightly unreliably connected.

The only thing better than a new laptop is... a new laptop, a fiddly disassembly process, a new SSD installation, a fiddly reassembly process, dropping a 5mm T5 screw on the carpet and losing it for a half hour, completing a fiddling reassembly process, and installing only Linux on the Windows 8 laptop.  Woohoo! :-)

My newly installed Leviton VPT24-1PZ programmable switch is now controlling my exterior power receptacles, and therefore my Christmas lights.  Automatically on at sundown, and off at midnight.  Woot!  (http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/ProductDetail.jsp?partnumber=VPT24-1PZ&section=44955&minisite=10251)

Hello new community!  I work for Replicon, a .NET shop in Calgary, Canada.  I've been working to introduce Go to the company in small steps, and experimenting with it where it works well for us.

Our first successful Go experiment is a tool called fast-archiver (https://github.com/replicon/fast-archiver), that's a "tar"-like tool designed for efficient performance with huge numbers of files.

My employer has approved the open source release of a neat internal tool I wrote called fast-archiver.  It's a highly concurrent file archiver (like `tar`): https://github.com/replicon/fast-archiver.  Written in Go, it uses concurrent file operations to improve performance over tar up to 50-60% for workloads with many files.

Just landed back in Bangalore after whirlwind tour of Delhi, Agra, and the Taj Mahal. Advice for travellers: fly to Agra, rather than taking the nine hour roundtrip drive from Delhi -- it's interesting, but tiring. 5.5 days of India left.
