The principal role in all efforts in the discrete mathematic is played by the prime numbers always present with their beautiful, powerful, necessary and mysterious irregularity
Link to software page: ANITA 10 | itobuda
Description
This application was developed to be a small tool that works with prime numbers. In this program you will find:
1) PrimeCalculations about prime numbers: How many primes up to N(Phi(N)),lists of prime with index, list of twins, lists of gaps, factorisation
2) DivisorsObtain a Vector indicating for any N < 2147483000 how many numbers there are with 2,3,4,5,6 ....divisors. Obtain lists of numbers characterized by the same number of their divisors. Information on other arithmetical functions and combinatory.
3) Methods of inclusion-exclusion and reverse.Calculate Phi (N) with these two methods.
4)Goldbach conjecturecalculate pairs of prime, mixed and composites
5) Study and examine not formal elementary proofs of the Theorem of Fermat and the problem of 2N as well as the Goldbach conjecture. In particular to understand the proofs one has to read carefully the inclusion-exclusion and reverse methods and some part of the source file.
6) By using options 6 and 7 of the main menu there is the possibility to change the data of the 2 main arrays containing primes and composites. In these cases the program will produce many wrong data. On the base of these errors and absurd results it is possible sometime to arrive to some logical conclusion. Some examples of this usage are given in the next chapters. After these usages it is recommended to restore the arrays with option 8.
All calculations are printed in a file called session 7.dat. If you close the program and run it again the old data are cancelled and the new one are printed in the file session7.dat. If you want to save some data you have to copy them in a new file. The use of the program to obtain lists and data is easy. Follow the instruction given on the screen. Next week I'm going to Bern, a beautiful small city in Switzerland.  Is there anything I should do or see?  Of course there's the obvious: walking around admiring the bridges, the old buildings and the Alps.  That could probably keep me busy for three days!  But what else should I do?

This is the first bridge to cross the river Aar in Bern: the Untertorbrücke, built in wood in 1256 and rebuilt in stone 1489.  I got this photo here:

This is it. The final showdown has been confirmed for Saturday and the beastly Bec des Rosses has been blessed with a layer of fresh pow. Tune in 2 days for the last stop of the Freeride World Tour, the Verbier Xtreme.

The bears of Bern

The name of the Swiss city 'Bern' sounds a bit like 'bear'.    And there are statues and pictures of bears all over Bern.

Legend has it that, in 1191, Duke Berthold V of Zähringen vowed to name the city after the first animal he met in the forest that was to be chopped down for his new city.   The story goes:

Then they caught a bear first, which is why the city was called Bern; and so the citizens had their coat and shield, which was a black bear in a white shield, going upright.

Others deny this, but everyone seems to agree that in 1513, when the Bernese returned home victorious from the Battle of Novara, they carried home a living bear... and for centuries, the city has kept bears in a pit called the Bärengraben.

This pit has been moved now and then, and in 1994 it was rebuilt to improve conditions for the bears.  But keeping bears in a pit still seemed nasty to many people, so in 2000 the city built a special park for bears by the river Aar - the BärenPark - which is connected to the pit by a tunnel.  So now the bears can visit the pit if they want, but they don't have to stay there.  When I passed the pit, none were there.  No surprise!
