Expedition 52 Soyuz MS-04 Landing
The Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft is seen as it lands with Expedition 52 Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin of Roscosmos and Flight Engineers Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer of NASA near the town of Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 (Kazakh time). Whitson is returning after 288 days in space where she served as a member of the Expedition 50, 51 and 52 crews. Yurchikhin and Fischer are returning after 136 days in space where they served as members of the Expedition 51 and 52 crews onboard the International Space Station.

HCG 87 Galaxy Group

Judy: "Here is a group of galaxies known as Hickson Compact Group 87 (HCG 87) in near-infrared and visible light. I combined datasets from Hubble's WFPC2 and Gemini South's GMOS to create a more complete picture of the group. The upper right corner and top and right edges, which you may notice are slightly fuzzier in appearance, come from Gemini, while the larger part of the image in the lower left comes from Hubble. The filter sets were not quite the same, but I found they blended together quite well regardless."

"Despite the galaxies being apparently close together, interaction between them seems rather subtle to me, with the most obvious sign including a perturbation in the dust of the edge-on galaxy at the lower left of the image, which is called HCG 87a. This edge-on spiral is quite picturesque with its contrasting dust lane, prominent X-shaped nucleus, and blue streak of star formation."

"Another member of the group, HCG 87b, is a large, bright elliptical galaxy seen to the right of HGC 87a. Striking to me about this elliptical are the numerous pinpoints surrounding it, which I assume to be a halo of globular clusters or something similar, like the cores of smaller galaxies that have long since merged with the elliptical. This leads me to conclude that HCG 87b is huge in size compared to the others, but must be more distant. Some faint, partial shells are visible in the upper right quadrant of the galaxy, hinting at some kind of interaction, perhaps an older one. Simulations have shown that shell features could form after ellipticals have taken in some smaller galaxy."

The Milky Way and Moon over ALMA

"ALMA's antennas under a completely clear sky, crowned by the Milky Way and the Moon."

ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) is the world's largest ground-based facility for observations in the millimeter/submillimeter regime located on the Chajnantor plateau, 5000 meters altitude in northern Chile. It enables transformational research into the physics of the cold Universe, probes the first stars and galaxies, and directly images the formation of planets. ALMA comprises a giant array of fifty 12-m antennas, which can be configured to achieve baselines up to 16 km. It is equipped with receivers that cover all the atmospheric windows up to 1 THz. In addition, a compact array of 7-m and 12-m antennas greatly enhance ALMA's ability to image extended sources. Source: European Southern Observatory (ESO)

Reflections on nebula vdB 31
Riding high in the constellation of Auriga, beautiful, blue vdB 31 is the 31st object in Sidney van den Bergh's 1966 catalog of reflection nebulae. It shares this well-composed celestial still life with dark, obscuring clouds recorded in Edward E. Barnard's 1919 catalog of dark markings in the sky. All are interstellar dust clouds, blocking the light from background stars in the case of Barnard's dark nebulae. For vdB 31, the dust preferentially reflects the bluish starlight from embedded, hot, variable star AB Aurigae. Exploring the environs of AB Aurigae with the Hubble Space Telescope has revealed the several million year young star is itself surrounded by flattened dusty disk with evidence for the ongoing formation of a planetary system. AB Aurigae is about 470 light-years away. At that distance this cosmic canvas would span about four light-years.

O Vocaloid Hatsume Miku é um holograma + sintetizador de voz que faz um tremendo sucesso no Japão. Utilizei um sintetizador de voz da voltrax em 1985 no estande da Prodesp na Feira de Informática, no Anhembi em São Paulo. A coisa evoluiu muito de lá pra cá.
A tecnoligia da "Alta Realidade " ainda é embrionária e daqui há alguns anos poderemos fazer parte do "ambiente" virtual sem a necessidade de uma tela de computador.

A holografia data de 1947 quando o físico de nacionalidade húngara, Dennis Gabor idealizou uma técnica experimental durante as suas pesquisas para melhoramentos da resolução da microscopia electrónica.

Astronaut Jeff Williams at Work | International Space Station
Expedition 48 Commander Jeff Williams (pictured) and Flight Engineer Kate Rubins of NASA conducted a six-hour and 48-minute spacewalk on Sept. 1, 2016. The pair successfully retracted a thermal radiator, installed two enhanced high definition cameras on the station’s truss and tightened bolts on a joint that enables one of the station’s solar arrays to rotate. The spacewalk was the second for Williams and Rubins in just 13 days, the fifth of Williams’ career and the second for Rubins.
