Nagai Toshiya Dotcom's posts

I have changed my Google+ Page's name in accordance with the change of the website's name. The new Google+ Page's name is the same as that of the new website: Nagai Toshiya Dotcom. I hope you will not find the new name inappropriate.

I have decided to integrate the contents placed in four websites into a new domain nagaitoshiya.com from August 1, 2015 on. The URLs of Systemics Blog and Systemics Archive are automatically redirected respectively to those of the new website, Nagai Toshiya Dotcom, while those of Systemics Wiki and Systemics Forum are redirected to its portal page.

I used to have MovableType manage my contents in a single domain, Nagaitosiya.com, but introduced three other content management systems (WordPress, MediaWiki, phpBB) to other three domains on January 1, 2011, partly because I was not sure of the continuing use of MovableType. Therefore I decided to add new contents to these three websites, while I left old contents as HTML files without updating MovableType.

Four year experience tells me that WordPress is the easiest to maintain of the four systems. WordPress has far more users than MediaWiki and phpBB, which makes troubleshooting easier. So, I decided to have WordPress manage all contents to minimize the maintenance cost. It would be also preferable for readers to take a look at the entire index at a page.

I preferred MediaWiki to WordPress, because the former is suited to compile a systematic theory, while the latter produces fragmentary blog articles in chronological order. Now that the publication of eBooks takes the place of the wiki site, I have made my wiki site private, using it merely as a HTML editor rather than CMS. The forum site has also become unnecessary, because you can make comments on almost all contents.

The URL of the new website is https://nagaitoshiya.com. The URL scheme, https, means HTTP connections secured using SSL/TLS. You can safely register your email address and send emails from a contact form. The domain without the 'www' prefix is convenient to display the whole URL in a narrow address bar of the mobile browser. I hope you like the new website.

* How can we improve recycling ? - Most of people believe that material recycling is the true recycling and thermal recycling is a fake. But the conventional material recycling is actually downcycling, whereas thermal recycling by the gasification system can realize more radical recycling. That is to say, what was thought to be the genuine recycling is deceptive, whereas what was thought to be the deceptive recycling is genuine. This recognition leads to reconsideration... http://ow.ly/2LD9Km

* Is recycling possible? - Georgescu-Roegen coined the fourth law of thermodynamics according to which matter continuously and irrevocably degrades from an available to unavailable state in a closed system including the Earth and predicted that we would soon arrive at the state of maximum entropy, material death rather than heat death. He also insisted that recycling could not avoid [...] The post Is recycling possible? appeared first on Systemics Blog. http://ow.ly/2IqOwZ

* What is entropy? - Clausius, one of the main founders of the modern thermodynamics, is the originator of the term “entropy,” but before this coinage he used an expression “equivalence value of transformations” instead. The term “entropy,” which is now used as a physical term, was originally economically conceived as equivalent value of exchange. Thermodynamics itself was a field [...] The post What is entropy? appeared first on Systemics Blog. http://ow.ly/2FSjFK

Download a free ebook, Toward Sustainability. I wrote this PDF file in 2007 to summarize my theory of systems and offer a solution to the problems of natural resources and the environment. For some reasons I could not publish the draft in 2007, but now I decided to publish it with some parts deleted.

* Retrospect of 2013 and prospect of 2014 - Happy New Year. I am in the habit of writing retrospect of the last year and prospect of this year on the first day of a new year. The most impressive thing in 2013 was the spread of social media networks. As I am not sociable, I had shunned them while MySpace and later Facebook [...]The post Retrospect of 2013 and prospect of 2014 appeared first on Systemics Blog. http://ow.ly/2CzvyJ

* What work does the Earth do as a heat engine? - A heat engine is a device that repeatedly converts thermal energy into kinetic energy. It needs the difference of temperature and a working substance with high rate of expansion to do a useful work for us. It can be done in two ways: by means of the change of volume of the working substance that [...]The post What work does the Earth do as a heat engine? appeared first on Systemics Blog. http://ow.ly/2C3xxZ
