The grand opening of our new Google LA office was also the first public trial of a side project that some of us on the Photos team have been working on. It's an automated portrait photography system that we call Photo Space, and it's basically like a giant photo booth. The neat twist is that we not only take a very nice photo of you, but we also remove the background and add your image to an ever-growing panorama alongside everyone else. We then scroll the panorama across three 70" displays mounted vertically, which allows us to show the images at life size. And since we're Google, we also made it publicly viewable from any browser. So come take a look at all the people who came to our opening event and got their photos taken in Photo Space, including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
