Awesome web site for using with WIB if you are in the UK - not only does this train time site fit nicely on the screen, it lets you put your start and end point of your journey in the URL so you can find the latest trains from, say, Victoria to Wallington from your watch by just bookmarking http://traintimes.org.uk/london_victoria/wallington
Things of interest. Live departure boards, using geolocation; or /live/ . Bookmark! Specify multiple stations by separating them with a bar “|”. Split ticket finder, for seeing if you can save money by buying multiple tickets for your journey. A vaguely live map of trains, ...

Awesome stuff from Google Cloud Platform partner of the year, PA Consulting!

Racer, Rollit and Jam with Chrome, the 3 games we built for Google are all up for the Project of the Year award. Be a friend and give us a vote or two won't you?

I voted for Racer, although it was a tough call!

T-Mobile is raising my mobile bill because of inflation... OK, but since when has inflation caused prices to rise? Sounds like a case of rain being caused by wet pavements to me...

I loved +Dave Girouard's take on the "insanity" of cloud skeptics. A more direct version of the conversation than I could have when I was still working at Google...

Finally grudgingly watch the bear and hare video today and the bazzionth person recommended it... It was a bit "Watership Down" meets "Bear in the Big Blue House", but it was cute I guess. I really empathise with bear actually - all the big guy wants to do is sleep, but he can't because some small bouncing thing with a Yuletide obsession forcibly wakes him up...

Lol - not surprised to hear you are a hare - I bet you are the only Dad who wakes their kids up on Christmas morning :) Don't get me wrong, I like Christmas a lot, I just wish it started after 7 am in the morning.

Took the plunge and upgraded to Ubuntu Precise... I'm not sure either way about Unity, but my aging hardware hated it - really laggy and horrible. So swapped out Unity for LXDE (amazing that UNIX makes it possible to do such things) and I'm loving it! Maybe not as slick looking as Gnome, but super snappy, and really easy to customise to exactly what I want!

I used to work with the UK Government Gateway, it was my job to understand it (and I was one of only a few of my peers who did)...

Yet as a 'customer' now, I struggle to follow the complex, obscure, prolonged sign up process...How the heck are ordinary citizens supposed to follow it?

Its design by self-interested committee at its absolute worst! Grrr....

I haven't used it for a few years. Just realised I never sent the child benefit cancel form back so it will be tax form time. So I look forward to this joy....

How does the song go... The Virgin Cable is connected to the homehub... The homehub is connected to the.. Ethernet over power adapter... The ethernet over power adapter is connect to the ring main... The ring main is connected to the other ethernet over power adapter... And that is connected to the cisco router... And that is connected to my laptop...

As someone who rarely ventures below OSI Layer 7, I'm pretty chuffed with myself!

Pleasant but very overworked staff meant we awaited over an hour for our food. When it arrived it was OK, but pretty average at best.

Fascinating history, well displayed and largely wheelchair accessible (lifts to all areas, but the Roman surfaces are quite uneven)
