I'd like to see a technology analyst weigh in on the subject too Is 'objective' analysis of the sector and Facebook's infrastructure (MySQL) included in the prospectus before filing?

This is also very true: Facebook left nothing for the common investor. The insider pig pile of PE firms and celebrity Silicon Valley angels took it all. This is a rather new, post-Sarbanes-Oxley fact and it should make Americans very, very angry.

The last few points are ridiculous and a simple filler to hit the golden 7.

Argos is a major retailer in the UK with NO product display , simply a retail ordering facility. They warehouse their goods and after you've ordered/selected/paid, your goods are picked from the adjacent warehouse and off you go.

But imagine if Amazon avoided a huge retail space altogether by demoing their entire product range via existing content using the medium of Augmented Reality. Tesco, the UK's largest grocery and goods chain, has been wildly successful with providing full, billboard style walls in the Underground, at busstops, etc where people are waiting and you can point your phone at the goods, pay, and have them delivered to your home! AR will truly take these models to another level!

More importantly - it will cut the costs to make these endeavours possible!

In San Francisco the cocaine is piles of ideas

I went to a party tonight at Peter Thiel's house that was co-hosted by him, +Michael Ellsberg and +Sean Parker.

I totally expected piles of cocaine and loose women after seeing all the press hype about Parker (and the movie, the Social Network, which hasn't come close to being accurate in my view, although it still does color even my own perception of the players in the industry, in mostly laughable ways once I learn the truth).

I arrived early at the party, which was held to celebrate the launch of Michael Ellsberg's book, the Education of Millionaires. It's a story about how education isn't preparing us for life and the new workplace.

Anyway, as soon as I walked in the door I went on a search for those piles of cocaine. I found Dale Stephens, instead. Who is he? Founder of I turned on my audio recorder, and got an interview with him and Ellsberg: <--listen in.

After that? I didn't find any drugs or lose women, but I did run into Laura Deming (Facebook link: ). She's one of the folks who the Thiel Fellowship has invested in. She is SO passionate about finding ways to keep us from aging (if she can find a way to do that she says she, and other researchers in the field, might be able to cure aging-related diseases like Alzheimer's). So much for the loose women theory of San Francisco. Well, she did give up her passion for the subject. I walked away giddy and she quickly friended me on Facebook.

Eventually I grabbed a glass of something alcoholic (lots of selection there) and ate some sushi. That's about the raciest things got until I got upstairs (let's just say that Thiel, who is one of the first investors in Facebook) has a nice view of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. While there a partner in Founders Fund tried to keep me away from the CEOs he's invested in (they were being a little too loose with sharing their secret ideas, one of which sounded a lot like Siri on steroids, which gave me hope for the future).

While appreciating the view of San Francisco's Marina district, photographer +Chase Jarvis and I had a conversation about the future of education which was pretty crazy. I can't give away too much about what he's working on, but it's pretty massive, just being around Chase makes me see the world differently. Can't quite explain that, but he sees things differently than most other people, which might explain why his photography and videos are so inspiring to me.

I also talked with investor +shervin pishevar about his trip to hang out with the revolutionaries in Egypt and Syria. He had to negotiate with the State Department for two days to get to do that.

Got talked into a few new iPhone apps, too. Aurasma Lite lets you turn everyday objects into things that can have augmented reality scenes placed on top of them and Viddy lets you record videos in a way that Instagram lets you record photos.

I snapped these photos on the new Batch app: Why Batch? Because it's a way to take a few photos quickly and wrap them up in one URL. Good for photo journalism, etc. Unfortunately the house was pretty dark for making good photos and I was enjoying the conversation too much to be photo happy.

Anyway, the only drugs I took home are a bunch of great ideas and new relationships with interesting people.

By the way, yes, I'm in the book, but don't let that keep you from buying it. :-)
