No need for my own review of Donna Tartt's 'Goldfinch' when Stephen King's already done the job for me.
In reality, much as I liked King's write-up, I am not in complete agreement with his assessment of the novel: Too many lengthy passages featuring the lead character expounding on grief; amazingly long descriptions of drug usage/abuse and its aftermath (have I ever read a book, short of 'The Exorcist', featuring this much vomiting?); and endless, endless nattering on about the titular painting. After 700 pages I was quite happy to bid Theo goodbye.
Aside: 'The Exorcist' is a really good read, vomiting and all.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/13/books/review/donna-tartts-goldfinch.html
