My corporate overlords encouraged me to share this with you.

Several short The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes effects videos to watch with a bit of HP and Intel cross promotion mixed in.

I'm sad and embarrassed that I did not know this man's name. One day I'm hoping I can cobble together an astromech replica of my own ... Even if it's just for service on my sailbarge ...
RIP Tony Dyson, the creator of R2-D2. Thank you for your creativity and Maker spirit.

Oscar commercial price estimates at 2 million per 30 seconds. How much did Samsung spend on Oscar commercials last night?

At least they were good commercials.

I was re-reading "Star Wars: Dark Empire" as published in the May 1993 Collected Edition and found the following in Kevin J. Anderson's introduction. (Anderson was writing commenting in his intro of the challenge of writing overlapping works in the still new Expanded Universe).

Anderson writes ...

"When you read Dark Empire, or any of the other novels, remember that although Lucasfilm has approved them, these are our sequels, not George Lucas's. If Lucasfilm ever makes films that take place after Return of the Jedi, they will be George Lucas's own creations, probably with no connection to anything we have written."

Keep in mind, this was written in 1993, right around the time the last book of the Thrawn trilogy was being published, and way before Episode 1, 2 and 3 became films. It was apparently always in Lucas and Lucasarts plans, from the birth of the EU, as it became known, to make the post Jedi movies go their own way, plot wise.

Which isn't to say they can't incorperate a few of the neat ideas along the way as inspiration ...

So, I use a fitbit to encourage me to get up and walk around more often in my daily life. It's a great, easy to use, life boosting product.

Every so often, the app on your phone gives you 'badges', using video game achievement technology to help motivate you, I guess.

Today I got the 'New Zealand' badge. My first reaction was 'I've had this thing about a year and I just NOW made it to the other side of New Zealand?'

Then ... I thought of Bilbo and Gandalf and Frodo and Sam ... As rendered by Peter Jackson ... And suddenly my New Zealand badge, which already was a geeky achievement, got a little geekier.

Maybe I should hike up Mt. St. Helen's and throw a ring in just to complete the accomplishment.

For some reason people keep posting demonic looking pictures of Ronald McDonald on my Google+ feed, with threats if I don't repost. Sorry ... Spreading fear to escape it doesn't work for me. Especially when I'm not scared. But ...

If you want, please feel free to share this 'Namaste' Ronald I took a picture of when visiting Thailand recently. Or not ... :)
