KEI EUROPE ASKS ROMANIAN GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE COMPULSORY LICENCES ON HEPATITIS C MEDICINES

On 10 March 2015, Knowledge Ecology International Europe (KEI Europe), in collaboration with affiliate Knowledge Ecology International (KEI), submitted a request to Romanian Minister of Health, Nicolae Banicioiu, to petition the Court of Bucharest to issue compulsory licenses on patents necessary for the supply of low-cost hepatitis C virus (HCV) medicines. The request provides a legal basis, as well as an economic, medical and moral basis, for compulsory licences as the pathway to affordable treatment for the approximately 1 million Romanian citizens living with HCV.

KEI, KEI Europe, and Essential Inventions ask five companies for licenses to HCV patents

On March 18, 2015, KEI, KEI Europe, and Essential Inventions submitted proposals for global voluntary licences for all patents necessary for hepatitis C (HCV) medicines to five drug companies -- AbbVie, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead, Janssen, and Merck.
The proposed licences would permit the manufacture, import, export and sale of generic HCV medicines in every country in the world. Significantly, the proposal puts forth an innovative royalty structure that accounts for income disparity, HCV incidence rate, and the differing health statuses of HCV patients in countries around the world, and provides a detailed annex demonstrating the royalties that companies would stand to earn in various specific countries for treating patients at different stages of infection.

This is a small family owned restaurant. The food is very good, but perhaps even more important is the charming setting. Many of the customers appear to be regulars. The service is always cheerful and friendly. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and this is an excellent place to have dinner and conversation with friends.
