The degree of #cognitive  agility that makes us refer to some as #geniuses  or gifted #polymaths  does not appear to be present in everyone but there are those who argue that it is. Maybe the real point of debate should be how is whatever amount of #individual   #genius  best utilized in a world in need of viable solutions to numerous challenges?

To check out or not to check out the bigger picture, and thus the larger more inclusively comprehensive story? Part 2 of the #AbbreviatedMindSyndrome  series presents more on why it matters for people of all #generations  and #culturalbackgrounds  .

Aside from the obvious mental illness issues involved in the case of what appears to be #AndreasLubitz  ’s mass murder & suicide, it is possible that something more along the lines the #AbbreviatedMindSyndrome   was at work. Both in regard to #Lubitz  and the scores of people with whom he came in contact every day. For his part, it prompted him to dismiss any sense of value that could be placed upon the lives of those he killed. For those with whom he interacted (this statement is made without appointing or implying blame) it may have made them avoid looking more deeply into who he truly was––in order to see only what they preferred to see.

As impressive as human beings are when it comes to zooming through space or enhancing technological proficiency on multiple levels, for some reason we can’t seem to break the habit of enslaving each other in one way or another:

Is what we so fondly refer to as the #Generational   #Divide  in the lingo of today's #demographics  studies any more, or less, significant now than what it was during the 1960s hey-day of counter culture in America? If so, what is that likely to mean when 2 senior #LiteraryGeniuses  release new #novels   in the same year tackling the touchy subjects of #race   #racism   & #antiracism   #racerelations  ?

The concept of Tao is one of the most flexible in the history of world philosophies and literature. Is it going too far to apply it as a framework for the metaphysical implications of rainbows?

Language by its nature is a culturally-derived medium that allows human beings to share perceptions of individual and collective experience. Yet at the command of a bully, a dictator, abusive parent, terrorist, or extortionist adept at guerrilla decontextualization, it can become a weapon of either individual or mass destruction. For that reason it might just be a good thing that the team, led by Barbara Kaufmann, behind WORDS & VIOLENCE has labored with unceasing commitment to launch its 4th edition even as the booming sounds of war have grown louder in the world.

A connection between transhumanist art and Michael Jackson's public visual image has long been acknowledged. But how fair has any assessment of that connection's significance been?

We might assume that certain kinds of environments are likely to automatically produce certain types of mental models. Two extreme opposites demonstrate why that is not always the case:

Politicians, media pros, and everyday social media enthusiasts have become more than a little proficient at using guerrilla decontextualization to re-frame scenarios and concepts to their advantage. Sadly, however, so have people who are as quick to use bombs and bullets toward the same end as they are to employ language.
