I'm previewing the new Google Maps. It's beautiful, but there's no way to embed a map AND there are no short links options. The Googler in this post says s/he's passing this info on to the Maps team, and I do hope they add that functionality back. The new maps look great, and I understand that most people probably don't use embeds or shortlinks, but they're part of what made Gmaps so useful.
Sharing a link to Google Maps is simple. If you'd like to share a map or a set of search results, click the link button at the top of the left panel and copy the URL, or click “Send” for more options. Learn more: http://goo.gl/141nv

If you’re previewing the new Google Maps, simply copy the URL from your browser! These links will work for those not yet previewing the new Google Maps as well.

The stuff that goes on under our feet…
Amazing video of +MTA New York City Transit sandhogs blasting part of the East Side Access tunnel beneath Grand Central Terminal. When finished the tunnel will bring Long Island Rail Road trains to GCT for the first time ever.

Most of these tips are pretty spot-on, particularly the one about the dreaded empty subway car.
