Awesome +Alex Delgado I knew you would be in under 4hr! I'm really happy that all of your determination and hard work can be a testament for others of Gods will. Keep it up bro. Come run Rome in March.
+Nathan Anderson So I know that most training plans lead up to a run (in your case 28 miles) which is obviously quite a bit shorter than 40. The same for most marathon plans. Personally, as a running luddite, and if I have the time, I always try to get a real distance run in before. Then I know that 100% I can make the distance on the day, unless I behave like an idiot. But I recognise my advice seems contrary to accepted wisdom! I think it mostly depends on your /recovery rate/ and time available. But I'm still sure you will make it & for a first ultra you just need to go slowly so you finish in comfort. Then on the second ultra you can go for a time! Oh and last tip. Sort out your music for the day, I'm assuming you'll carry an player, and for me I have a waterproofing strategy (for the player) if it's torrential rain on the day.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams
Belief is a wise wager. Granted that faith cannot be
proved, what harm will come to you if you gamble on its truth and it
proves false? If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.
Wager, then, without hesitation, that He exists.
