So in the last few weeks I discovered a new hobby: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Via_ferrata and actually managed to go to the sailing club with our son and spend an hour or two with a a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(dinghy) to play.

My wife thinks that I'm having a mid-life crisis, my colleagues say that this doesn't have enough young women or horsepower to be a proper mid-life crisis. I just think that I'm enjoying my lower weight and increased possibilities. And having a lot of fun ;)

We spend a whole day at the hospital and it was very boring, nothing happened :)
So after this allergy provocation test we can now slowly introduce boiled-to-death cow milk.
Boiled to death means 'boiled at least 20 minutes', or cooked of course.
Pizza and lasagna are valid interpretations of this requirement ;)

reflections on experiments with dygraphs http://pvaneynd.dreamwidth.org/152036.html
For a side project at $WORK I need to plot some data. In the past I used gnuplot but as I wanted to interactively investigate the data I wrote a GUI browser in Clojure. This was relatively easy and fast enough. But I've been told that I'm not with the new hotness and that I should investigate ...

To those comparing the #shutdown with Belgiums: ours did NOT shutdown, it went into care-taker mode.People/projects continued to get payed. It meant 'no new projects'

We are not that stupid to completely kill off our economy for a political disagreement.

+Paweł Lasek no new elections, but a string of people trying to form a government with the distribution of parties we got from the election.

Part of the problem was that they needed a 2/3 majority in all three parlements to do a reform of the constitution.

XKCD in spaaaceee! http://blog.xkcd.com/2013/09/30/asteroid-4942-munroe/
Seriously congrats!
Whoa. There's an asteroid named after me! Amazing xkcd readers Lewis Hulbert and Jordan Zhu noticed that the International Astronomical Union—the organization in charge of official astronomical naming—was taking suggestions for what to name small Solar System objects. They submitted my name for ...

Woke up dreaming about the Culture of all things.
This morning while waking up I was dreaming about the culture. It started off as a pretty normal dream involving a hidden base where we lived, with an alien space ship inside of it. The main part was that it was well protected about the rain ;). (It rained a lot here yesterday) ...
