What an exquisite post John. I can tell it comes from the heart and I couldn't agree more.

You wrote so beautifully, I can only reiterate:

I read some time ago about smelling "peanut butter" and it's possible correlation with dementia/Alz. I tried it with my mom but she was already too far into her Alzheimer's journey to "label" much of anything correctly. One of the many problems is that language fails as dementia/Alz advances. But at your mother's "earlier" stage when recall and language are still more reliable, I hope the test is proven helpful.
