Union Crackdown in the UK:

http://cruxpeopleandbusiness.blogspot.ie/2015/07/union-crackdown-in-uk.html

I take a look at the UK trade union crackdown which will come into effect in the coming months. Including what is entailed and the possible effects. A possible scenario could see workers needing an 80% to 20% vote in favour of a strike for it to be considered legal and even with that imposition, two weeks’ notice will be required and organisations will be allowed to use strike busting agency workers to cover lost days anyways. Would love to hear from all of you on this, do you think it’s appropriate?

Say what you want about trade
unions, but one thing is for certain. Trade unions defend workers and try to
secure better conditions and pay than would be possible without collective
organisation. Many people seem to have grievances with how unions are ran (...

Introduction

Hello there. Thank you for coming to my blog, it’s much appreciated and I hope you enjoy reading. My name is Daniel Troy, I'm from Ireland and I have started to blog as a way to build my own thoughts and beliefs in relation to business and people management. I am currently a PhD student in the National University of Ireland, Galway where I am researching how employees resist management in organisations which aim to exclude trade unions from the employment relationship. I'll be publishing on the human side of business so will be of use to managers, business owners, HRM professionals and employees alike. Add me to your circles or like the Facebook page above.
