For those who use Google Chrome, after an update you may see a message concerning the end of support for your OS. Chromium and Pepperflash are an alternative to look into. It is in the Mint repos. Mint 13 is locked at version 37 while Mint 17 has version 47 available.

Here is is a new LM17.2 XFCE4/KDE install. It's a work  in progress, the panels are standard XFCE4 panels, the wallpaper is something I found on the web while searching for steampunk airship.

So, I went ahead and installed Mint 17.2 XFCE on my desktop. This will be the second time I have tried Mint 17, I was not impressed with it the first time and returned to using 13 or LMDE.

I had a little issue with accessing my storage drives where I back-up my pictures and documents. Changing permissions on them has been educational though.

I found the background this morning while searching for "Debian Inside" on Google images. I had a desire for something clean.
My latest Debian 8 is making me a real happy Linux user. Everything has as with any install to be set-up to suit the individuals personal taste.

Just completed another Debian 8 install. This time on my wifes desktop. The netinstall cd I used gave me the option of choosing desktop environments which I like. I've have never cared for the Gnome desktop which is the default for Debian. I prefer XFCE.
Unfortunately upon completing the install the drive would not eject and when it finally did, it did not kick out the mini iso disc. I now believe it is damaged and I do not have an extra copy of it.
The copy I do have installs Gnome by default and doesn't give me any other option.

My latest install. Debian 8 XFCE with the 2 default panels cleaned up to suit my taste. The top panel has my icons and notifications, the bottom has my windows buttons and is visible when an app is open. The wallpaper was found on the web by searching for "penguins the usual suspects". I prefer a clutter free desktop.

This is the desktop of my Dell Latitude D610, it has a 1.60GHZ Pentium III processor and 1GiB of ram. I started with a Debian Wheezy XFCE install using the net install disc. After the install and updates I disabled Debian repos and added the Linux Mint Debian repos for the newer version of XFCE and some other updates, LMDE has discontinued their XFCE version.  I then disabled the Mint repos, enabled the Debian repos and recently did an upgrade. I haven't found anything that is broke or causing me any problems at the moment. But I have a hybrid Minted Debian 8 XFCE system that is working well.

I have 2 standard XFCE panels and using standard themes. This is the only system I have that has Iceweasel, Icedove/Iceowl, and Iceape.
