Bhekumusa Moyo

Bhekumusa Moyo is an award-winning poet, author, playwright and development practitioner whom Albert Nyathi said is “The most promising voice of reason” He was published in the poetry anthology “It’s Time” with Writers Get Together. Bhekumusa Moyo is the winner of the inaugural Power in the Voice Poetry competition 2006 and became the country’s representative to the Power In the Voice International Festival in 2008. Recently he was in the SADC Poetry Festival 2010. The Chronicle has listed him as “one of the highly talented young poet of this land” Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Bhekumusa has presented his work in most African countries and festivals. He has been featured on numerous TV and radio programs including the “Zinhle Indaba Ezinhle” Ndebele Poetry program for Radio Zimbabwe, Star Kidz and The King’s Kraal. Bhekumusa Moyo’s essays on poetry, politics, and culture have been published in Kubatana.net, The Chronicle, The Zimbabwean, Standard and Arts Initiates. In addition to his contribution to the arts, he has been an adjudicator at the NHIMBE Trust Arts Festival’s poetry category, Radio Dialogue Poetry and Public Speaking competitions. Bhekumusa has in the past years participated in the Intwasa Arts Festival, Power in the Voice International Festival, SADC Poetry Festival, HIFA, PAIF and in many invitational performances in the Book Café, Horror Café –South Africa, Exodus Live Poetry-Botswana, and in local civic society and state functions to present contemporary poetry.
