Booked on Hotels Tonight app. Check in was at 4 which I thought was later than usual. However, when I arrived at 11 am there was a room available and I was able to check in. The rooftop pool/bar/lounge are a very nice addition and a cool place to hang out. The location is in the Gaslamp district which is in the heart of the nightlife. The room was nice and overlooked the pool. The staff was very courteous. There is definitely a younger crowd here but that is what I expected from the area. Only issue I have was with checkout, was disturbed at 8 am and then 9:45 by cleaning person. Checkout is at 11, but I guess on a weekday I should be out early ;).

Kimpton has built their reputation on providing excellent service and accepting dogs of all kinds. During our stay, each staff member had a smile on their face as they said hello to us in the hotel. Our rottie German shepherd cross loves it here. We will definitely stay here again.

I stayed here during the summer for a conference and it was OK. The rooms are small and decorated all in brown. My room was on the same level as the pool deck, so I couldn't open the blinds for privacy reasons. The bathroom was mostly clean but not spotless (when I filled the tub, there was some floating black stuff in the water) but the tub was nice. My room had a wet patch and giant yellow fan because of a rain leak, but they were sooo apologetic and gave me a credit to the restaurant downstairs, so I didn't mind although I was being reimbursed anyway so the credit didn't make much difference. A gift card to the restaurant for a future visit would have been nicer. Bed was comfortable.

Good deal on hotels tonight. Comped wine from 5-6pm. Local to lots of nearby things. Room was a little small for the price though

The hotel is nice and comfortable, but the rooms are missing some amenities that most as accustomed to, like a microwave and space in the mini fridge for food. The "fitness center" is kind of a joke if you care for lifting weights. The only parking available at the hotel is valet, which runs at $45/night. Other than those things, it's a nice place to stay within walking distance to many attractions.

This hotel is trying to save money in all the wrong places and not realizing at the same time what customer service is. We brought our daughter with us. We went to the roof top patio pool it was so cold even my child who will swim anytime (as all kids do) refused because it was so cold. Everyone around the pool was complaining about it. I approached them not once, or twice, but three times about it; they did nothing. I went back to the front desk and asked if they could turn the heat up they responded saying "it is what it is." The cleaners would not come until late so we had to order our own towels. The rooms were not clean. When my daughters birthday rolled around we walked up the street and bought a cupcake to sing her happy birthday, we called guest services for a match, or a lighter so we could sing to her. They just replied "we don't have anything like that." We explained it was for a cake to sing they said "we can't help you. We played "pretend" candle when we sang. :-(. They were also obviously understaffed (not that they are properly trained anyways) because we would call room service for breakfast and they wouldn't even answer, we would have to leave a message. Not to mention we like our coffee in the morning. They don't even have coffee machines of any sort in the rooms. They say they supply Keurig machines if needed. I asked for one and again got "sorry can't help we have none". So we would have to leave a message, then finally get coffee and pay a 6.00 delivery charge on top of the cost of the coffee and tip!!! The comforters were stained (ewwww). They don't supply any drawers for your clothes to go into except a small drawer under one side table. You will find a closet and two hangers. The service from staff members screamed NO TRAINING and the hotel screams "trying to save money." They scrimp with their clients, .....with us. No heated pools, no service, no clean rooms. I would NEVER stay there again.

We had a really nice stay. The pool deck is very nice. The hotel is very convenient to Petco park. Unfortunately the Padres did not win, but that was not required :). Within walking distance of many restaurants and the harbor area. If you borrow one of their bikes, you can also go lots of other places which would be too far to walk. Rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful with any questions I had. I agree with a previous reviewer that parking is too expensive but I also understand that parking is expensive anywhere in that area. So I can't take off any points for that. I have to say we loved it.
